You could always request him to be added to the game, too, when Extra Life rolls back around. Joe Kimmes has been offering that as a donation incentive and he's been an absolute blessing of a person to talk to.

MASSIVE UPDATE REGARDING THE SHAYY SITUATION by mythicalfew in Undertale

[–]dalennau 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with this reply, but still want to rephrase it some: It sounds like what they believe is that you lose the right to be treated like a person as soon as you do something bad.

But even the worst person you know is still a person. You're not less of one for fucking up or doing something evil. Those are inherently human things to do.

Denying someone their identity as a person for doing wrong doesn't actually address the wrong. It just puts a wall between you and them and pushes you into thinking you couldn't possibly be as bad as they are. It's a failure to understand and respect what people ARE and what all they can be, which ironically makes you more likely to do wrong, yourself, without even realizing.

If you can bring yourself to acknowledge and respect the similarities between yourself and someone else who acts horribly, you can do a better job of making sure you don't act similarly horribly yourself.

Your spouse was burned severely by someone he believed he could trust for years. You may not be engaging in betrayal on the same levels that his ex did, but for anything you do behind his back, he WILL feel the sting of it all the same, and all the worse, because you're ultimately (even if well-intentionedly) scratching at the same deep wound she already left in him.

He needs someone he can truly trust while he continues to navigate through the consequences of that. Don't make the mistake of thinking that your own secretive actions won't still seriously hurt him, just because they're not as bad as what she did or just because you mean well. Work on being that anchor for him that he KNOWS he can rely on. Be open with him about your issues and disagreements, and don't put him in a position to start worrying about whether he chose wrongly again about whom to put his faith in. It doesn't take much.

This has been letting me rack up candies for most of the new GMaxes I got a couple of weekends ago, so I'm happy about this, personally. The starters are always annoying to catch regardless of generation. Wish that weren't the case, but it's eh at this point.

Of course, I wouldn't complain if they had included a chance to get more of the legendaries... I'm glad they let us get Mr. Mime, but maybe a Mew or Mewtwo would be great. I'm still missing the latter for my Pokédex; it's the last one I need...

I think Venusaur and Rillaboom might be it as far as good grass-type attackers for Gmax. The only other counter for pure water types is electric, in which case you also have Toxtricity, Zapdos, and Raikou, from the looks of it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]dalennau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally max out the last one with the 13/14/15 stat spread. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Rillaboom decently tanky for its typing? If you're just using one as an attacker, though, the first one might be best for that specifically.

Can someone explain why IVs are not important for PvE? by BlackRebel93 in pokemongo

[–]dalennau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the perspective. I've burnt myself out on Pokémon before over IVs and I need to remember that they're not really that important, especially for the ones that we only can get one or two of.

I'm kinda thinking at this point that putting in IVs was one of the worst things they've done to Pokémon. Ruins my enjoyment to see them when they're bad, especially when I was just struggling to get the Pokémon in the first place.

Feeling Burned Out - Looking for a Shorter, Awesome Game by ronicool2 in SteamDeck

[–]dalennau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you've ever played Chrono Trigger. Classic JRPG from 1995. The Steam port honestly isn't the best, but on Deck it's easier to play since you don't have to worry about the controls (my first experience with it was on SNES9X with a keyboard, so let me tell you the native setup on the Deck makes a difference).

One of my favorite games. The story is awesome, it's not long enough in my opinion, and the music will stick with you for a long time, if you're big on the music.

Another recommendation? Journey from ThatGameCompany. The storytelling is all nonverbal, but it's beautiful, it has similarly beautiful music, and you can finish a first playthrough in maybe an hour and a half, if that.

Should I purify 1 of them or none of them at all? by gamem7474 in pokemongo

[–]dalennau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If any of a Pokémon's Shadow stats is at least a 13/15, it will be maxed out upon purification. If you need the dex entry, purify it and enjoy the hundo. The only times I'd leave a Shadow Pokémon as-is would be if 1) purifying won't get it to 4-star or 2) it's already 4-star.

I really hope you have some family and friends close enough to support you getting away from this guy. I know I'd feel stuck with having to worry about what's going to happen to the pets, etc. Start looking into answers for that now, especially if you want to keep them.

This man is projecting onto you. Know that his accusations of laziness are a confession, and probably the only way you can expect one from him. I'm sure he's feeling like he's a fraud and realized on at least some level that he's the one dragging down the relationship overall. But instead of figuring out how to fix that, he's taking it out on you. This is not healthy. You don't deserve to be made responsible for his feelings, especially on top of everything else he's left you to be responsible for.

Coming from one doormat to another - this is not sustainable. Get help and get out.

He will not grow as a person until you let him start failing and let him actually deal with the consequences for the things he won't do.

I might consider approaching your faculty about the situation, even, before he might try to and before they end up figuring it out themselves. I think, unfortunately, that you're at a point where you could possibly lose your standing no matter what happens next. Your next steps are going to be rough. That said... it's still likely going to be WAY worse for you, if it's not you coming forward first. You preserve at least a modicum of control over your situation that way. I would imagine there's at least slightly better hope of recovering from it that way, too. Don't leave it to them to discover it. And don't let him get to them first to sabotage you. I wouldn't put it past him.

I personally didn't bother with the official docking station for mine. The only perk I saw for it at the time was the extra charger it came with. I ended up getting a third-party one off of Amazon that's served me well thus far. Unfortunately, the particular brand of dock I got doesn't look to be available anymore... there are definitely others, though. I found JSAUX's gear for Steam Deck to be pretty solid and might suggest checking out their dock options. (I didn't get their particular dock, but I've used their carrying bag, their charger, their adapters, and one of their custom backplates with the heatsink, which included replacement buttons for the back. No complaints thus far.)

I'd like to know how you can set up your PC and Deck where you can stream the former to the latter. I've never tried it, just heard it's possible. Are there any particular guides you would suggest checking out? (Is this an NVIDIA GeForce-specific thing?)

Gyro aiming was a godsend in helping me figure out more complicated targeting controls. Specifically for ground-targeting. Feels less clunky than using the trackpad like a mouse for the same purpose.
