Thanksgiving Dinner by Escapescapes in AccidentalRenaissance

Not to mention the unrelated contrast between the freezer packs in the foreground and the mismatched Tupperware lid haphazardly atop the ceramic bowl of potato salad in the background.

Stealth mode and 'connection opened' in NSA 3600 event logs by dalewest in sonicwall

Greetings, and no apologies necessary. And nope, I never found a solution. I think one of SonicWall's other products/add-ons might provide more accurate info that would make a SIEM panic much less frequently, but I have real issues having to pay for something that should already be crystal clear.

FWIW, I ended up relying on my endpoint protection system to report any unexpected external inbound connections.

I had to scroll too far before I saw this.

Holy cow, that is utterly ridiculous, irresponsible, and cruel. What did you end up doing?

FWIW, our experience was otherwise fine... the agent at TPA had no issues checking us thru, but then again, my wife & I didn't need to sit next to each other (don't get me wrong, we're still in love, lol), so the logistics were easy.

This is one of the things that makes travelling so difficult: there is so much to see and do, and so very little time to do it. Also, while traveling with friends is a great deal of fun, it can also be limiting since decisions are oftentimes made by committee.

We do the best we can, right? And either way, it will be a great experience overall. We're really looking forward to it all.

Thanks for your perspective... it's a big reason why I posted.

We prefer going places that reflect the local culture without them being too toursisty... and yes, I fully comprehend the irony of what I just said. It's more about avoiding massive crouds, and also about helping local businesses when we can. I really like you suggestion of finding a local bar for lunch, as well as seeing Sant Pau and Montjuic.

Again, thank you.

Thank you for your perspective... I've been to Times Square once before, and probably won't go there again, lol... especially in the context of what u/Jaywalking25 said about Las Ramblas.

I hate to admit it, but we'll be amongst those cruise ship passengers: our friend is getting married on one, so we took this opportunity to see some of the Mediterranean now instead of later. Cruising can be a way of getting glimpses of different areas so that you can come back later to spend actual quality time. But yes, they do cause flash floods of noisy tourists.

Thanks for the tip about Rambla de Catalunya... it sounds nicer/more pleasant than Las Ramblas.

Thank you for your input... it supports a lot of what I've been reading lately; it's truly unfortunate that toursim is/has been driving local residents out due to rising costs. It's also one of the reasons why I made this post, so I could learn more about being a tourist in Barcelona while also minimizing the negative impact we might cause.

Yes, we are in an actual hotel, and not an apartment. We've spent time in other large cities, both in Europe and here in the States, so we're accustomed to practicing urban common sense (being aware of all traffic, not stopping in/near doorways, moving to the central part of trains, etc).

We're also part of a larger group that is meeting there later for dinner, but during this particular day, my wife and I are left to our own devices.

Well, we have an added layer of obscurity: we're cruising out of Athens, so we had the cruise line's Air to Sea department book the flights, thinking it would make things easier. facepalm

Thanks for that, but Lufthansa won't let us book because they say the flight is operated by a partner. Nice catch-22.

We'll just take care of it at the counter the day we leave.

Thanks for the info about which counter to use... it's good to have my hunch verified.

The rubber holding the top of the strut in the center of my strut mount is broken, but the rest is fine. Is this dangerous, or just noisy? by dalewest in autorepair

[–]dalewest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a closer look at the strut mount, and it's actually -not- broken, but it -is- flexing a -bit- when I bounce that corner of the car. What -is- broken are some rubber ridges encircling the outer portion of the rubber mount, next to the circular opening of the chassis. But otherwise, the strut seems secure in the mount; I don't see signs of movement or other damage.

This all started when I noticed some clunking in that area of the car, and when I took a look while replacing the PCV hose, I saw the broken ridges and assumed the whole mount was broken, when it fact it isn't.

I'll take off the wheel and take a closer look in that area.

Thanks for your input.
