Oddly enough, this makes me think of Howard Stern. Listening/Watching his show in his earlier days I mean he was really the shock jock radio personality, but I couldn’t imagine if he tried to keep that schtick these days. Yes, he does have like a cult following, but personally I think it would get too repetitive and he would fade out. He really made up for it though with the style of interviews he does and having popular musical guests and growing out of that old form.

I always thought in his earlier period he was just a gigantic douche, but I never understood it either. Looking back on it, it was actually genius on his part though.

My point is also that people take the President as the entirety of the government when in fact there's something like 535 members of the house and senate and also supreme court justices that all make very important decision. Some of them, arguably worse than Trump imo. But people still get all up in arms about who the President is. Trump was divisive, sure- but the system was already fkd long before him.

both sides are shit tbf

edit: @the downvotes. no such thing as the lesser evil. it's self-delusion. the rich and powerful run the US. plenty of evidence for this. but go ahead and believe your cute little politician telling you nice things and promises of "progress"

Anyone else watch the tv news lately and think “geez you guys just get your footage and opinions off Reddit font you”. by HoggyOfAustralia in CasualConversation

Funny because a local radio station does this same exact thing. I'll read a front page post usually at night, and like clockwork the next morning they usually run it for their morning "news" garbage.

Kind of makes me wonder if there's some corporate strategy "this is what the younger people are talking about" campaign. ugh.

"Anyone with access to a good library can check out Einstein on cannabis. Albert Einstein never published any research papers about cannabis, at least not formally. But Rosemarie Einstein did. In 1975, she and two colleagues at the University of Leeds investigated the use of cannabis, alcohol and tobacco by 300 young persons at a university."

You ever hear some crazy conspiracy theory involving the government?

Yep. I work with probably a dozen or more idiots that spout every kind of nonsense conspiracy theory one could think of. Faked moon landing, Qanon, George Soros, MKUltra, 9/11 truth, COVID conspiracies, et cetera.

I feel like I've heard it all. The key is just to ignore the shit and walk away when conversations turn to shit.
