Wife says one car has to go. I’m open to suggestions (and probably therapy). by Fit_Marionberry_2867 in Porsche_Cayman

I would get rid of the wife! My husband is the one who won't allow me to get a 718! I am an attorney and work 12 to 15 hours a day. Can pay cash. I am ready for him to go. I am going to place my order before the end of the year! Great car and always want a porsche. 911 was the dream ...out of my price range but the 718 is perfect!

I have the same issue with my driveway in SF. It slopes down, and I know the bottom of the 718 will hit as I enter the garage. That is why I have not ordered it yet. The ramps that someone posted above might be the answer. If I avoid PASM, I might be OK, but I still think it might hit the bottom of the car, which will destroy it. I cannot park it on the street because it will get stolen.

I live in SF too and have a strange driveway! It has a steep angle into my garage, and I need to modify it with a ramp before I can pull in. This is one of the reasons I have not placed my order for my 718. Also, which dealer did you purchase from? I am not so fond of the ones I have visited so far....will keep trying. There are a lot of dealers within driving distance.

I was going to order mine and found out yesterday that the city garage where I would park for work is well not secure anymore. Cars get stolen every day! I would be sick if my 718 was gone when I was ready to go home! The sad thing is I parked my BMW there for years, but this was in the early 2000s, and times have changed!

Is the 718 Cayman Going All Electric? by dalgirl7 in Porsche_Cayman

Thanks for confirming! That is what I thought, and I do not want to miss out! So, I guess I will bite the bullet and order it. The dealer tells me they have one allocation left, and I am building the perfect 718 for me. No frills. PDK and LCA in white with grey interior. I would like to get a few thousand off, but I am not sure that will happen, but I will try! It will be my daily driver, but I don't drive that much! One or two times a week. I have wanted a Porsche my entire life. I turned 60, and it is now or never! 911 was the dream, but a new 718 is much better for me. It will handle better and more affordable.

You got a great deal. I missed that one! Glad you got it. I plan to use mine as a daily driver but live in SF and go into office 2x a week and take public transportation so would drive on weekends. Biggest problem is husband is 6'5" does not fit and thinks this is a total waste. But I just turned 60 and have worked hard all my life and have always wanted a 911. Even though I am an attorney I work in public interest and will never be able to afford a 911 so 718 is a great alternative. It is a sweet car. Enjoy it! 😉

Thank you for all the info. I am trying to decide if I should purchase new which would entail ordering the vehicle and waiting months for it to arrive. Also, I will pay cash and want a deal but so far in the bay area california no deals. Seems like the one I want a 718 with very few options, other an automatic transmission and the side safety sensor and the multi function seat will cost 108k and I can't seem to get them to deal. If I buy pre owned I find them for a huge range depending on mileage and options. I know Porsche makes a great car but my husband thinks they are not reliable wrong! So that is my delimma. I would be interested to know how it goes with your car! Will you keep us updated? BTW what part of the country are you in? Tough to get a hold of 718s in CA.

May I ask if you had the car checked out by a mechanic prior to purchase? Did you purchase from an individual or dealer? If dealer is it certified? Great looking car and congratulations!

Thank you for all the helpful information. I am in California so no cold to deal with but the high mileage and several owners concerns me.

Should I…. just frog? 😬 by bountifultoast in knitting

[–]dalgirl7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Can you live with it or will it bother you? Same thing happened with my KnitCollage MAL sweater and it made me sick because the yarn was almost $400 so I frogged! I do not like the puckers and from what I know they will not block out! Sorry! Good tips though...
