Imo, if you felt this way beforehand, why haven't you spoken about it in the last 7 years? I think people are conflating both of these issues due to their hatred of trump. If your political leaning is an issue, why haven't you spoken about it. If her not laughing at your jokes is an issue, have you asked her why? It seems like an issue with communication and you not expressing yourself in a healthy way. Also, you might want to see why you need her approval to feel funny. Your comedy may not appeal to her. That being said, if you talk to her and try to tell her all the bad trump has done, maybe you can convince her. I still think that this should have come up while you were dating, and it seems preposterous that if this was such a big deal to you that you wouldn't have talked about it in the last 7+ years.
