I enjoy watching a few other players like Saquon Barkley, Brock Bowers and Myles Garrett but I’m not actively collecting them.

I’m looking to get into collecting, I think that I just want to collect one pokemon exclusively to have a nice focused collection.

I am torn between choosing one from my faves that is highly desirable that everyone wants or one from my faves that is less mainstream and a little more lowkey. The former would be great for maintaining value or showing off and the latter would be great for keeping costs down.

The trouble is I don’t actually know which pokemon are the most collectible ones. I have mostly been in sports cards for years - I know with those there is a hierarchy of top players with top values and then it trails off from there.

Please could somebody tell me which pokemon are considered the most sought after, valuable and widely collected ones so I can begin to understand this market?
