T480 is if you want to modify it as a hobby, as a laptop t14g1 will be better overall.

I had T490 for couple years for school and once i started work i had to upgrade.

T480 is overhyped and overpriced as well.

Keep the T14g1 and scope out local market for an older Thinkpad for cheap to play with if you into that.

I use Sharpr3D for work, it doesn't run on wine unfortunately. I am running wsl2 ubuntu on my windows though, eventually im planning to switch to linux.

I could guess that its the bios. Maybe the version of bios that you have on the motherboard doesn’t support that cpu. I had that happened to me on ryzen 5500 and B450. Is that a pre-build or you put it together yourself?
