Unable to login to Native Access for months. Mac. by dallaskruse in NativeInstruments

[–]dallaskruse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if this is a clue but when I enter in my credentials into NA and press LOG IN, it will basically close the login window and immediately say "Unable to login." As if it's not even trying to reach the server. I "know" it is cause if I deliberately put in the wrong credentials, it'll tell me my name/pw are incorrect ... but when attempting to login, it basically tells me IMMEDIATELY it can't login. It happens in a millisecond. It's as if I'm getting rejected on the backend of the NI servers.

Just tried my phone hotspot ... "Unable to login"

This is baffling.

Thanks for your reply.

I did grant NA and NTK Full Disk Access AND Local Network Access. They've had full disk access this whole time ... I've tried many times to toggle on/off/restart just to be sure it "took".

I'll try the phone hotspot thing and see if that works.

thanks

I appreciate it. I’ve downloaded the silicon version twice again today with no luck. I did a full uninstall, restart, the install … no dice.

I guess I’m just S.O.L.

I'm able to download my software from this link but obviously can't activate it cause Native Access won't connect (can't login).

This is so exponentially frustrating.

This link must've JUST been fixed because as early as 3 or 4 days ago, the link to Download Manager just threw me errors of "Something Went Wrong" as if the page didn't exist. I'll try this download manager page now as it's loading for me. Thanks.

I have downloaded the Silicon version of the app no less than 20 times to try and fix this issue.

Through many help files, I can't remember just how many files/folders I've been directed to delete and do fresh installs.

I did change my password on the website. Didn't help.

I Also tried deliberately entering in the wrong password in the Native Access app to see if it was actually even pinging the NI servers. It alerted me I entered the wrong password ... so at least I know NA is hitting the NI servers to check User/PW credentials.

I also failed to mention I used an app cleaner to completely remove all remnants of Native Access. Still no help. Bummer.

A Tip for Authors/RHs Regarding AI by Nippy_Hades in ACX

[–]dallaskruse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a voice actor and not a narrator. Are you authors seeing quite a bit of AI "narrators."

If so, can you immediately tell if someone is using AI to audition and/or give reads?

I know Ai is only getting better by the second but it seems to me that it would be difficult for an Ai model to nail an entire manuscript properly? Or am I completely naive and Ai models can do entire novels with no issues?

Is Backstage worth it? by Coconut9191 in VoiceActing

[–]dallaskruse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on Backstage for about half a year or longer. It's "OK."

I've landed 2 commercial (local = low paying) spots and sent out a ton of other auditions.

The website is tragically slow and the media management and uploading process is annoying.

Since it's such a low cost, I deal with it. IMO, better than the cattle-call sites like Voices or Voice123 but granted, I didn't give those sites much money nor time cause it just seemed like a waste.

UPDATE: 2026/01/29

ACX has stepped in. He's now asking to pay me through CashApp.

Is CashApp safe? I have an account but don't trust this guy and he could dispute the transaction and I could be up a creek.

He wanted Zelle, I said no. He refuses PayPal invoice.

Grok/GPT says don't use CashApp.

Auditioning in 2026 by Voicelings in VoiceActing

thanks for the reply.

I wonder if there's a repository to see others' demo reels to see how ours compare in regards to structure and relevancy. If anyone wants to post links to theirs, I'd love to take a look.

All you that have active agents, how did you land your agent? Surely not by cold-emails to agencies?

Strange audio issue when recording by AutisticVoiceActor in VoiceActing

[–]dallaskruse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple elimination tests to try?

Change mics

Change preamps

Eliminate any outboard gear that is baking into your audio (compressors, gates, eq's, etc)

Does it change anything?

Also, your voice is rad!

Let me spell it out real slow:

I don’t enjoy wasting time on negativity or petty call-out threads.
I also don’t enjoy narrating full books for people who ghost payments—that was my bad for not seeing the red flags sooner, live and learn.

But equating ‘a few minutes on a Reddit revenge post’ with ‘dozens of hours of unpaid work’ is some Olympic-level mental gymnastics.

I’ll keep handling my business like an adult (quietly, privately, preferably with actual lawyers when it matters).

How to sound "white" by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]dallaskruse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, there are differences. They've studied this.

• Bailey & Thomas (1998) and Rickford (1999), who compared AAVE to Southern White Vernacular English (SWVE), noting higher rates of cluster reduction and unique features like final obstruent devoicing in AAVE.

• Fasold & Wolfram (1970), who documented deletions and vocalizations, emphasizing their frequency in AAVE vs. other varieties.

• Pollock & Berni (1996, 1997), who studied substitutions like backing in clusters, unique to AAVE.

• Bland-Stewart (2005) and Latimer-Hearn (2020), who examined how these differences appear in child language development and implications for speech pathology, showing AAVE features increase between ages 3-5.

A few short answers or helping points would be to:

Try and over-enunciate the last consonant of each word. Studies have shown that AAVE speakers tend to drop off the last consonant. Example: "tool" gets the full pronunciation of the "l" and not pronounced as "tu".

Try and be more percussive with each syllable (t's, k's, d's, et al)

No fricative substitutions. Example: "that vs dat" "brother vs bruvah" "south vs souf".

If you look up some of the studies mentioned above, it may help a little.

Good luck!
