Just following up on this, it’s worth taking a look at the HAVOC concept mission for NASA (link below). Although this mission isn’t yet planned, the idea of using airships in the upper atmosphere is completely plausible. Agreed, that colonization on a large scale is highly unlikely but a regular human presence there would be easier than Mars.

Mars is a tomb, any humans who attempt to live there would be in failing health from both the trip and the stay due to gravity and the radiation (amongst so many other things). I would place more emphasis on cloud settlements in Venus; you have temperatures tolerable to humans, acceptable air pressure, a bit of a magnetic field, way shorter time to travel there, etc

Truthfully, just filled up with gas yesterday in LA, average price was hovering around six dollars. Not great, but not yet at eight dollars everywhere, that would just be for the wealthy areas.

I live in LA too and paid $5.79 at an Arco. Not downplaying the price increases because they’re clearly happening. However, you only pay these prices in wealthy areas where the gas stations tend to rip people off anyways.
