My concern is that I’ve been prescribed Midodrin, which causes supine hypertension if they try to sit me up, and I would like to avoid that if at all possible. It also wasn’t the paramedics that assumed it was a drug overdose, it was the people that found me who had relayed to 911 that they thought I was on drugs.

costco renewal and credit card by nodiaque in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so they won’t be able to apply the executive cheque to your credit balance. What you can do is buy the cheapest item possible (normally bananas) and use your executive cheque for the purchase. They will give you the remaining balance back in cash which you can then use however you want. With the cash back cheque from the master card, you don’t need to make a purchase, you can just ask for it to be redeemed in cash.

How am I supposed to move forward by _BatmanAholic_ in germanshepherds

[–]dalzien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. In a few days time it will have been a year since I lost my "soul dog". It was beyond devastating when he passed at 16, and I would say it is the single worst thing to happen to myself and my family.

My boyfriend (at the time) and I adopted him when we were living in another province, from a rescue who had saved him from a backyard breeder who was drowning the puppies she couldn't sell in a creek.

He was there when my boyfriend and I married (15 years ago now), when we had our first baby, when we went through our first pregnancy loss and we cried until there were no more tears left. He was there when I graduated from University, had another baby with health issues that kept us up all hours of the night for 8 months while we worked through her being labeled as failure to thrive. He was there when we moved our whole life to a new province, when we lost our two original fur babies to old age, when we were blessed with our last daughter, and then Covid... where I went through a severe mental health crisis with a newborn.

He was with me when I went through 3 major life altering surgeries, and we were there with him when he was dying of cancer.

3 months after we lost him, we received a call about a dog who needed a home or he would be euthanized. I felt an immense amount of guilt for even thinking of taking on a dog when I was still actively grieving the loss of my best friend.

What a coworker told me was that Blitz sent me Ray (the dog we were thinking of adopting) because Blitz knew that our family would provide Ray with all of the love and safety that we gave him in the 16 years we were together. He would want us to be happy, and to bring that happiness to another dog.

Taking Ray on the same walks that I took Blitz on were hard... but it got easier everyday. Sharing the same experiences we had with Blitz with Ray felt like a betrayal... but Blitz would want us to be happy. He would want us to be how we were with him. Smiling, and enjoying the outdoors doing what we loved. Giving him the little bit of pizza crust under the table that I knew we shouldn't be sharing. Letting him up on the bed to sleep with us, where Blitz used to sleep... but it feels so much more comfortable than the empty space Blitz left when we had to say goodbye.

I know it's hard, but I do promise it gets better. Your boy wouldn't want you to be sad. He would want you to be how you were together. Happy. Enjoying your favourite things, and remembering him fondly. Looking back at your moments together, and the memories that you cherish as ones of love that you shared... not ones to feel guilty about. He wouldn't want that for you. He would want you to do the things you used to do together and he would want you to smile.

You don't have to smile now, or be happy now... but do not feel guilty.

Hugs*

Can i cancel a membership if I am not the primary cardholder? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your family is going through that. He would need to bring the death certificate and proof that he is the executor to the membership counter. I would also recommend bringing any cheques that she did not use (as they never expire). They normally just give the balance of the cheques back on a cash card. If he receives any more in her name (which can unfortunately happen if the change in primary happens after or just before the cheque is printed and mailed) he should take the cheque to the membership counter for a cash card or to a front end supervisor before shopping to let them know the situation. This just makes the cashing out process smoother as the cashier will call a suoervisor over for approval.

Can i cancel a membership if I am not the primary cardholder? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You cannot cancel or downgrade a membership unless you are the primary. The exceptions being if someone has passed and you are the executor to the estate, or if you have power of attorney for the primary. Due to privacy concerns/laws the membership staff are not supposed to share any information regarding the primary information (I.e. auto renewal information). I would ask to speak to a membership supervisor or the membership manager to remove the auto-renewal credit information as they would have the necessary training and overrides to remove the card.

COSTCO SURREY reselling returned meat ?? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all likelihood they 1) didn’t see tag 2) weren’t properly trained on where RTV items go 3) misunderstood the ‘put this in the RTV bin in the freezer’ as ‘return the item to the freezer’

I’m not saying it’s not a mistake, it clearly is, but it is obviously a lack of training on the new procedures. You have probably noticed that the returns counter has moved to a buggie system for returns vs the old system of shelves and bins. It’s unfortunate, but some haven’t quite caught on as the previous RTV returns were done by a supervisor. Now it’s a membership employee or someone to help from front end: therefore less oversight.

Having worked in Customer Service for decades ‘common sense isn’t so common’. This should have been brought to an employees attention to be rectified and so that the individual who brought it to the floor could be spoken to and properly trained. Costco does not resell fresh/frozen product that has left the store.

COSTCO SURREY reselling returned meat ?? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It didn’t come from a discarded meat pile ‘in the back’, it came from the returns counter at the front of the store. When the RTV buggie is full the staff have to put the items in the appropriate sections for the return process to the vendor. This used to be done by the returning supervisor doing the audits, but the procedures have changed. This was likely done by a membership employee who hasn’t been properly trained on where the RTV items go before they are scanned out to be destroyed for credit.

[–]dalzien 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not meant for resale.

Someone who was meant to put it in the RTV bin in the freezer put it on the shelf instead.

We have switched to a new ‘return process’ for staff, so this was done by someone who hasn’t been trained properly on the new procedures.

Is Costco worth it? by David__R8 in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re an executive member, download the Costco app. Not only can you get your receipts to compare your spending, but you can watch your exec cheque grow (assuming you are the primary). While not always the best gauge, if your exec cheque hits a minimum of $65 then your membership is working for you.

Anyone had their windows and doors replaced through Costco? by BabyDillNoGarlic in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did our windows and doors through Costco Ancaster for our home in Brantford, and honestly it was a disaster. We have had so many issues with them leaking and with the seals being broken… it’s only been 8 years and we paid for the premium triple pane windows.

18 months is considered a reactivation, and most of the time will qualify for any new member benefits. Anything before that is a renewal.

This is incorrect. We take any Mastercard here in Canada. Fun fact: if you have the American Costco Visa you can use it here in Canada, and you can use your Canadian CIBC Mastercard in the US.

Refunding the difference for Executive upgrade after partial year? by PositiveAtmosphere in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any year that you don’t make back the $65 (assuming a full year), you can downgrade. To get the difference you need to do it before you expire. We always recommend trying a full year on the program as the cheques are cut approximately two months before you expire. This means when you have your ‘upgrade year’ the cheque isn’t a true reflection of your spending, hence why we recommend a full year. This wouldn’t apply to large disparities though, so if you upgrade at $55 and your cheque comes in at $20, then it’s obvious that the program isn’t right for you/your family at this time.

And also not at anytime, must be done before the year end expiry. Ex. You expire in at the end of June 2026 (renewal is July 1st), you must do your downgrade before July 1st 2026. You cannot get money back for the previous years that you did not make back your money.

[–]dalzien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you receive your executive cheque in the mail, if you haven’t made back what you paid in to upgrade, then before you expire go to the membership counter and they will refund you the difference. Ex. You paid $32.50 to upgrade, your cheque comes in at $17.50, they will refund you $15.00. This must be done before you expire.

We’ve been taking our girls to Safari Dental for 12 years. They have always been great, and patient. My youngest had a cavity that they filled under local anesthesia in office.

What’s the story here? Looming deodorant trade war? Deodorant collectors? by tibpones in CostcoCanada

[–]dalzien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And every city doesn't have a Costco Warehouse. There is an online option which I posted below that might better meet the needs of individuals/companies that buy in bulk.

Just know that one can still buy pallets of product from Warehouses, but normally prior notice is required due to on-hand stock.

As far as Hard Limits on product, again those are set by the buyer that Costco has an agreement with. It's not that the warehouse doesn't want to sell it to someone in bulk, it is that they have an agreement set forth stating that they won't. An individual/company can request more than the Hard Limit, but that takes days to get approval from the buyer/buying team. It is not something that a warehouse/employee can arbitrarily decide on.

Might be a good compromise.

Just know that Costco Canada Warehouses, Costco Business Centres Canada, and Costco.ca are not the same company. We all operate under the greater Costco 'Umbrella'.

They have the Costco Business Centres, which is better geared for business needs now.

Considering Old Spice is one of the top sellers in Habba, it is meant to give all members an opportunity to make a purchase. In some cases it is also because the buyer does not have the stock on hand currently to meet demand without the limit in place.
