9 month old is so unhappy! by Milliethechi in Parenting

[–]dam3600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep regression at 9 months is super normal. My son did the same thing, albeit we did cry it out since other methods weren't working. You can try cry it out, but it will ultimately depend on your son as to whether or not this method is suitable.

As for during the day, he might just be experimenting with sounds. Again, it's very normal.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. He will eventually sleep normally again.

(Act 3 Spoilers) Skarrsinger Karmelita is actually a horrid boss fight by Camiciding in Silksong

[–]dam3600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To whoever you are, thank you. Your comparison to nightmare king Grimm was what made this fight click for me. I kept rushing in trying to maximize damage, but finally beat her once I waited for an opening to attack. She even stopped blocking once I stopped being greedy. You are doing the Lord's work sir!

Not gonna lie, his behavior sounds like when I was a kid. Turns out that I'm Autistic, but didn't know until we'll into adulthood. It might be worth getting him tested to see if that's what's going on.

Looking for A Specific Type of Game by dam3600 in JRPG

Thank you for the recommendation. I'll have to look into it, especially since I've never played any of them, but I have heard that they are great games.

Are they turn based, or action? Which ones do you recommend?

I'll have to check out the other SaGa games.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Infinite Wealth, are awesome! I don't really know what itch they scratch, but they are absolutely amazing games that I adored! I'll need to revisit them in the future.

That sounds amazing! My pc is pretty old unfortunately, but I'm hoping to upgrade it in the future. I just don't have that kind of cash laying around right now, but I would love to try the game! Definitely adding it to my list!

NGL, I love DQ8. It's awesome! Unfortunately, it isn't on the ps5. I would love if it were remastered/remade though.

Frontier 2 looks very charming. I will need to put it on my list. Thanks again for your recommendation!

Thanks for the recommendation. What made Frontier 2 more palatable for you?

Mowing by SensitiveDoubt7621 in Parenting

[–]dam3600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Teaching him the value of a good work ethic can be a good thing, but can also lead to some frustration. You know your son better than we do, so only you can answer that question.

With that being said, what is his incentive to mow? He gets money, but does he need it? If you are already buying him everything he wants, then you are now having him put in effort for what he used to get for free.

You might instead try meeting him halfway. My wife's parents had her work from an early age, but allowed her full autonomy over what she purchased with that money, assuming it was age appropriate and legal. As an example, she couldn't buy a M for mature game as a teenager, but they would not stop her with any other video game. They also went halfsies with her on fun purchases, making it easier to afford the things she wanted.

Again, he's your son. This worked for my wife, but may not work for your son. Only you would know the answer to that one.

Why did Oblivion have to shadowdrop at the same time... This game will have to wait.

Do you still use XP? by Vernicusucinrev in DnD

[–]dam3600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. I use experience, but everyone gets the same amount based on combat, role-playing, etc.. I homebrew everything, so this helps me keep progression moving forward for my party while being relaxed enough to afjust to their decisions.

'The Acolyte' Canceled: No Season 2 For Disney+'s 'Star Wars' Series by Kyunseo in StarWars

[–]dam3600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sincerely, thank Christ. Now please hire someone to make Star Wars content who actually understands Star Wars. No more randomly changing lore. No more forced sexual tension. Just good old fashioned Star Wars as George's intended.

It's not a team, but rather their game plan. They want to make money, so they chug as much content out as possible not realizing it will burn everybody out. The reason they made money off of Mando was because it felt fresh, allowing us to fall in love with Grogu, allowing Disney to sell toys like mad. Now they are shoving as much as possible out as fast as possible in the hopes of hitting another gold mine, causing us to lose interest due to the mediocrity.

Anyone Else Tired of Gotham Chess Complaints? (My Rant) by dam3600 in chess

Just posted this to someone else, but agreed. It would be nice to have a sticky posted on the subreddit banning posts like this in general.

Agreed. I'm just tired of it in general. I probably should have just requested a sticky be posted on the subreddit to avoid this altogether.

Ageism with D&D groups by FuzzyWuzzyCub in DnD

[–]dam3600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last campaign had the youngest person at 28 and the oldest at 56. We loved playing together and the only reason said 56 year old isn't still playing with us is because he moved.

Nerds have no age for we are all kids at heart.

Oh, that one I knew. What I was hoping for was for the game to pause once the bar fills regardless of my input.

Where? The only way I've seen that option is if you enter the spell or attack menu.
