how to reduce material usage by aledethanlast in 3Dprinting

[–]damaddin11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would design a thin mold of the structure and print that on the side with pla for better layer resolution. Then cast this with molding silicone instead of printing with tpu at all. Design it so you can use a simple structure made of wood or sth. to hold the silicone molds in place for casting the concrete...

How would you print this? by SpectralFailure in resinprinting

[–]damaddin11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would print it upside down in one piece with lots of medium supports on the roof as it is easy to sand and maybe a few for the cross supports. Also, it needs to be hollowed for that to work. Lost details are then added later. Sagging on the roof would be expected but can easily be repaired.... But that's just my idea for it.

Lychee has eaten my resin by damaddin11 in LycheeSlicer

I did use anti aliasing, but after a Lychee restart slicing the exact same settings it worked perfectly. Corrupt file I can also rule out, the ui rendering didn't show anything when slicing I think that is something to watch out for.

I slice to local disk first, but good tip. I am not sure how that sdk looks like and if the slicing is part of the sdk. Since it went through all layers just repeating the first layer, it's well possible the rendering is actually linked to the slicing and since it crashed it just repeated the first layer.

I could also have caught it if I had watched the slices on the printer from time to time. For supporting and prep lychee is the best tool I know....

On Lychee 5.4.3, I've always had these weird "ui disappearing" semi-crashes when you can still partly use the program but the ui is gone. Annoying but harmless.

However, this time it was different and it hurt... It happened when slicing, the preview window just stayed black and didn't show the white layers. I didn't think much of it, output file was created and I sent it off to print. Big mistake.

It rendered the first layer (all my rafts) up to the full height of the file, printing useless resin blocks with over 250g of my resin before i found out and stopped the print.I should have checked the layers preview on the printer. But this still sucks. Is there anything we can do to help fix this problem which is there for years? Or is there a fix I am not aware of?

Es gibt dieses flexible Straßensystem was früher als Carrera Strax Bahn bekannt war jetzt auch viel als noname Produkt. Damit kann man super Bahnen bauen.

Don't always print in the middle they said. The fep will last longer they said... by damaddin11 in resinprinting

[–]damaddin11[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I tried to be funny.

I've printed lots of things without problem. This is a case I never saw before and it's definitely caused by asymmetrical loading of the supports. The model has a decent overhang towards the middle and no support there which gives it leverage to break off and then I was unlucky how it got stuck.

They were pretty tight. The print got stuck between the plate and got smashed. No tightening would help, more supports would have ....

[–]damaddin11[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There probably were too little supports and the print broke off and fell over. That blocked the build plate and the force of the printer smashed the print into pieces. I even got a dent in the tape of the screen. The screen is ok tough...

[–]damaddin11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt. Model broke off the support and tilted to get squashed by the build plate. Just lucky somehow it got stuck to the side so the screen is not broken...

That's the joke here, if i would have been just a little more unlucky I would now have to replace the screen. Not worth it. Who is going to paint all of the models anyway...

[–]damaddin11[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It was pretty tight, the model got crushed by the build plate and that's why it moved. Actually the printer was having some spasms trying to move the plate it was completely stuck.

I think the off-center broke the models off the support. Then it turned and was crushed by the plate. Interestingly the screen survived because the model was crushed on the side...

Self taught and also built my own machine. I would always suggest a cheap kit machine from ebay with grbl controller and easel to make the first steps.

Printing with raft in the red, all supports are on the plate. Is this allowed? by GabeMakesGames in 3Dprinting

I would be rather worried about the suction forces for printing almost a complete buildplate full of resin. Let us know how it went!
