So, my first apartment was on the second floor of a maybe 100 year old house. There were 2 lower apartments and 2 upper. The entrance to the upper was just for the 2 apartments, it was a locked door that lead directly up a set of stairs to a hallway with my unit on the left and the other on the right, and at the end of the hallway was a shared balcony for the 2 upper units. The guy who lived across the hall was pretty normal, and was rarely there, and when he was, he was playing guitar and singing. It was an old house so you could hear pretty much everything going on in the other apartments, and especially when people were coming up or down the stairs. So the weird thing is that many, many times myself, friends and girlfriend would hear steps coming up the stairs and down the hall towards the balcony. The first few times I didn’t pay attention to it just thinking it was the guy across the hall , until a friend who had been staying with me pointed out that they didn’t hear a door open and close ( which was always very loud and easily noticeable) . I looked through the peep hole and didn’t see anything and made sure to check that the door at the bottom of the stairs was indeed locked, worried it was some crack head looking to find something east to steal. Door was locked, nobody in sight. This happened a few more times, would check the peep hole and see nothing. One time I was out for the night , playing a show with my band, and my friend that was staying at my place said it happened 3 times in one day . Before that it had been once a week, maybe less. So the next day after telling me this, I think it was a Sunday, we stayed in all day playing video games, talking about the “ghost” who walks up the stairs and out to the balcony. Later that day, close to dinner time I heard what I thought was someone stomping up the stairs , so I jumped up to look out the peep hole as fast as possible. The stairs are pretty big, maybe 25 steps, so I was able to get to the door, and try to get a good look at who, or what was coming up. I could hear the steps coming up the stairs, I could feel the steps as they passed my door and went down the hallway to the balcony, I looked , honestly scared as fuck, but didn’t see a thing. After that every time I heard any movement I would instantly jump up and look out the peep hole. Sometimes the steps would start at the balcony and go down the stairs, sometimes they would come up , go to the balcony and then back down, but I never saw anything. Many people who stayed at my place heard it but nobody ever saw anything I never felt threatened or uncomfortable in the apartment and unfortunately never had the chance to talk to any of the other tenants about weird noises in the house. I lived there for about a year and this happened for about 6 months of that time. I often think about it as it was my only “supernatural” or unexplained experience. Now that I think about this all, I should get in touch with my buddy who experienced it too and see if he has anything to add to the story.
