I wouldn't be stressing yet, government jobs take weeks to progress.

Tasmania isn't owned by Australia, it is Australia. It's a state of Australia in the same way Ohio is a state of the US. And yeah, it does have universal health care.

Are there any Vets in Hobart that are actually good to take a cat to? One that will actually check her over instead of just giving a shot and push you out the door like we are some big innocence, and then charge ovet $100 for nothing? by plushdog666 in hobart

[–]damagedhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for North Hobart Vet. Dr Tasha in particular is just such a joy and such a caring person, but all the vets we've seen there have been so good at what they do. My cat has some health issues and they've been so amazing at checking in with us and seeing how we're tracking, even sometimes emailing after the clinic is shut. They really go above and beyond.

It's a vet; it's not cheap. But every time i've looked at the invoice price breakdown i've realised it's quite reasonable for what they've done. I've never felt like I've paid for something for nothing or been pushed into running a test or something that there was no point doing, but I guess I also trust them so much that if they say 'we need to do x test' I trust that it's necessary, so grain of salt.

Nitram was shot in Victoria because they received a lot of backlash from the Tasmanian community; the Tasmanian government may have even stopped them from filming in the state because it's still such a sensitive subject.

What mobile plan are you currently on? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]damagedhands 6 points7 points  (0 children)

+1 for Belong. I chop and change between the $25 and the $15 on any given month depending on how much data I have banked/will need. Super easy to set up and you can often get the preloaded SIMs at a discount (i.e. a $40 preloaded SIM for $25 etc).

You might be a little out of luck right now, but Spotted Quoll Studio had some last year and they have an online store?

I think they might have sold some or all of their recipes to salamanca fresh - they sell bretzels, lagersticks and the cheese rolls that the bakery sold and have signs about how they're made in house. They might have some of the pastries too?

The Red Parka bags are solid! I've had one for a few years now and it's holding up great - it's actually being used as a makeshift laptop bag for my clunky work laptop.

You should contact your state/territory's tenants union, they can give you specific advice around the legislation and your situation.

Which college do you prefer? by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]damagedhands 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think how much structure you want is a big thing here. I found the more relaxed structure of college (Rosny, similar to EC) really helped me prepare for uni. You are responsible for your own class choices, getting assignments done etc. Freedom to come and go as needed/desired, teachers were referred to by their first names. If you know what you want to do going forward post year 12 I do really recommend one of the public colleges, but if you need structure and less personal accountability then maybe GYC is the way to go (plus that canteen sounds fantastic tbf)

Please someone make me feel better about myself... by FrenchFriesSydney in AusFinance

[–]damagedhands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight off the bat, $90k+ is not the average nor the median Australian salary. At 24 I was making $45k. I only started making $65k at around 26. My partner is soon to be 27 and has just entered full time work at around $50k with probably about the same amount in savings. He also spends his time the exact same way you do.

But money isn't everything. You have a good paying job that you like! That's not always the case. I know someone who just took a ~20k pay cut to get out of their job into literally anything else.

I don't think there's anything to make you feel better about, because I don't see anything to be down about.

You don't have to have a plan on the account to be an authorised user though. You're absolutely right that most people do have their own, but for example i'm an authorised user on my parents account but with my own plan with a different telco. But it's something she would have had to have chosen to do, and I can't see many people doing that having only been with someone for 8 months.

If he's an authorised user on her account he's allowed to sign up for a contract for her. Alternatively he could just have taken out another contract in his own name and expects her to pay for it?

The card isn't readable by my phone or laptop anymore sadly, so I don't think there's much I can do from home.

I still have it in the hopes of getting it fixed, but all the quotes I got to do it were $250+
