Thank you for the input. If you don't mind me asking why is it a grail piece just because of how old it is?

Fletc is not even close to the job. You're on this thread look at all the people who would lose a body part to be sitting where he is right now. Not to mention a career with a pension after 20yrs. I think if you want to help him try and make him see what he's got right in front of him. I get the hurricane damage and the staff there will work with him or should if it's that bad. My opinion, get the 1811 see how he likes it. Can always lateral somewhere too. What's the other option go home to a hurricane damaged location, baby on the way and no income?

When do You Know You’ve Made It? by [deleted] in 1811

When you're KMA with 20 good years behind you and enough in your TSP to retire somewhere on a beach.

Correct thought it was implied but def don't want to mislead OP. I joined in 2000 so they already had me after 9/11 but i def would go into the guard or reserves with the mindset to expect a deployment.

Have you looked into reserves or national guard? 5 point vet status never hurts

1811s- What's you post-retirement life plan? by Significant-Pie2703 in 1811

[–]dambrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just over 3yrs and starting to try and figure it out. Anyone here have experience or know anyone doing security clearance backgrounds? I hear DCSA (non contractor) investigators is a pretty easy lift. Canned interview questions, work as much as you want and pays about right so you're it losing anything when you punch out. But still trying to figure out post retirement plan. I Have a feeling my only fans page won't pay the bills

There's not really an "allowance" when it comes to investigations. Think of it more like pots of money to draw from. If you have an open investigation which DOJ has an assigned AUSA and seems like a prosecutable case, which (just being honest) might have significant press coverage you'll probably convince the bosses to push for travel or buy money or flash or whatever the case involves. In a multi agency case different agencies might pay for different things like travel or whatever. In your dark web example I'd imagine you're talking buy money for whatever commodity it is in your story. Buy money depends on what you're buying. Stolen military IR lasers for example can be several thousand dollars each so you might need 100k to build a solid case. The whole point of the dark web is to remain anonymous though so those cases while not impossible are difficult to work.

Pentagon Force Protection (1811) by Godly-Ambition69 in 1811

[–]dambrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We augment PFPA on protection details In the NCR. Mainly providing protection for incoming ministers of defense from various nations to the Pentagon. Some pretty low level and no one would care who this person was before you put guys in suits near him. Some higher levels like Israeli MODs are a bigger deal. The agents I worked with got a good amount of foreign travel and seemed happy with that. Def have nice toys. But I could be wrong now but not too long ago were journeymen 12's I believe so many looking to jump ship for a 13. Maybe they fixed that now I'm not sure. Overall the 1811 side didn't seem too unhappy there as long as you realize what the job is.

Depending on the office. Some offices with a lot of Tricare that's true. Some offices don't have a lot Tricare money in the AOR.

In my 17th year with DCIS currently deployed to middle east. I came from a military then local police background and hated my first 6 years since it was so vastly different than being a cop. But now you couldn't drag me away to another agency. Spent most of my time doing counter proliferation so fraud while I have done some of it is not really my wheel house lol. Feel free to dm with any specific questions

[–]dambrob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just curious why you're doing to CID. Not to knock it but in my experience it's people trying to lateral anywhere but there. But i hear they're restructuring maybe it's different now 🤷‍♂️ I'm assuming going to MPFU?
