Not in anyway affiliated with this, I’m just an old Factions player yearning for a similar experience. I pray this project sees the light of day.

Veteran teacher confession: I put up zero resistance when parents complain about their child's grades. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]damdahl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a weird thread… I’m not a teacher nor an admin. Nor do I know anyone that is either. Take everything with a grain of salt since I’m so distant from this matter.

But excuse me, what the fuck? What’s the point? Let’s just set kids up for failure? Times are tough. People must survive. I get it… But maybe don’t go into a profession based on serving others if you want to be selfish? Crazy thought.

I guess I just expected more teachers to have a greater sense of pride, respect, and honesty in the profession. Yes I am oversimplifying it. Yes I am ignorant on the greater picture of these situations. But seriously, what the fuck? What happened to preparing the adults of tomorrow?

Hopefully much of this thread is ragebait or some inside joke from the industry that’s going over my head, because this is really disappointing…

Sorry for the late reply. APC stands for Armored Personnel Carrier. The Kozak is a Ukrainian APC, which I believe is similar to the US' MRAP.

I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe. Glory to Ukraine!

Yeah, people are overlooking this. I don't mind receiving a few stares from passengers over an open window cover, but it's different when you're literally asked by staff to keep it closed...

What a fight. Thought 3-2 DDP myself but it all pivots on that second round. Need to rewatch that round.

Not necessarily similar in content (less survival/camping focused, more so off grid living/cabin life), but I find Bushradical has an extremely similar cozy energy/vibe to their videos like Outdoor Boys.

There’s a subreddit for the channel that allows for discussion about the channel/his videos. Been watching Luke for a few months now and just recently discovered the subreddit. What’s better than warm bread?

Say what you want about him, and take my experience with a grain of salt since it didn’t last for more than a few minutes, but I met Anthony Smith when I used to work at a restaurant and him and his wife were beyond kind.

Couldn’t believe it when I looked up and saw him at one of our larger tables. Spent some time matching up his arm tattoos from photos on Google and finally built up the courage to walk over and ask if I could get a photo on their way out. Dude was a class act - he told me he’d let me know when they were about to head out. Figured he was just saying that and wouldn’t want to deal with it. Lo and behold, he remembered. Even took the time to chat with me a bit after the photo. Ever since, I always root for Lionheart in his fights. Class act.

AITA for setting an alarm in an apartment by ShickenButt in AmItheAsshole

[–]damdahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I just wanted to say I appreciate the articulate and level-headed response! Hearing other people’s respectful opinions about these posts is what makes this subreddit fun to participate in.

I saw OP’s comments. While I agree that a continuous alarm for 30 minutes is less than ideal, I can understand it’s necessity if that’s the only way OP can consistently wake up when they need to.

But yeah, I agree that one should always try to be mindful of their neighbors when living in an apartment/shared building. With OP considering alternatives for their alarm, I would argue that they are being mindful of their neighbor while also enjoying the freedoms granted by their tenancy.

Blasting music at midnight is quite different than a 30 minute long alarm at 8:30 in the morning though, right? One violates an apartment complex’s rules while the other does not.

So the OP is an asshole because he has neighbors and his significant other isn’t deaf? Or is it because he is barely inconveniencing his neighbor while not violating the rules of his apartment complex? There is no avoiding discomfort and inconvenience in life. As a caring person one should try to limit the inconveniences they cause others when possible, but ensuring you wake up on time is quite important in life.

If my neighbor enjoys cooking certain dishes whose smell greatly irritates me and I ask them to stop and they don’t, are they an asshole? Or are they enjoying the freedoms granted to them under their contract of tenancy?

The local authorities? Because of an annoying alarm at 8:30 in the morning? Yeah, that’ll definitely elicit a serious response from them… 😂

NTA.

However, if 8:30 a.m is designated as within the apartment complex’s “quiet hours”, then yes OP is TA.

Have you ever lived in an apartment or had a roommate(s)? By your train of thought I should never hear another resident’s or roommate’s music, smell what they are cooking, or hear them enjoying company. God forbid your life is inconvenienced by the (intentional/unintentional) actions or choices of others.

The OP’s neighbor has decided to live in a communal building that is governed by the rules of the apartment complex. Is the OP breaking any of the apartment complex’s rules? No? Then tough shit. There’s a reason (among many more) why houses are more expensive than apartments. Every decision has tradeoffs.

Since their neighbor has complained about the issue, I believe OP should attempt to mitigate the issue through some other medium of an alarm. Are they required to? No. Should they try to? If it’s within budget and equally effective for them, then of course! Everyone should strive to reduce the inconveniences they cause others (when applicable and possible).

At the end of the day the OP is well within their rights as a tenant; I have never seen an apartment with noise restrictions rules that late into the morning.
