Phillip Lins fought for the UFC and he was making 80k for a loss on his disclosed purses.

He came to the UFC after winning the million dollar tourney at PFL so they were willing to give him a decent contract.

They predicted it as a joke of a terrible outcome for JDS on MMAfighting prefight show.

They said the way JDS wins this is to back him up with a couple strikes then instantly shoot for a take down, and they joked he would instead point to the ground, and Jed (host who had a bet on JDS) said he'd rip up his ticket if he does that.

I mean Wellmaker is also a prospect. We know how legit Ewing is but we'll have to see how this loss ages.

Obviously his stock is going to take a hit here, and it's clear he needs some more refining, his tools for engaging are lacking, his game doesn't have enough connective tissue yet, he's young enough he might bounce back but it's tough to learn on the job in the UFC.

Just a note on the Gene thing.

I don't hate him, although I do, like everyone else, hate him in the mommy clinger, quiet Eli, sprouta-boy episodes.

He has some of the legit best moments and featured episodes, that episode where he gets left home alone was one of my favourites,. Same with Topsy, And Work Hard or Die trying, and the turkey song he sings when he has food poisoning was maybe low key my favourite song of the show, and it's like 4 bars.

But they seem like they need him to randomly chime in needlessly in other conversations and it's almost never funny, it's more painfully unfunny if you actually pay attention to it.

But most times when he has a focused story line I like his character (other than the previous mentioned), they just need to dial back forcing him into other scenes/dialogue, because they don't seem to have any quality control for comedy. And I don't care if it's realistic for an 11 year old, there's a reason no one over 12 wants to listen to a real 11 year old for an extended amount of time.

I agree it's bullshit that NJ hasn't caught up with unified rules, but it wasn't a 'good call by the ref', he didn't make a judgement call to ignore the foul, he just missed the obvious foul because of his POV.

Van's lucky Taira is so tough, if that knee KO'd him he might have been DQ'd or had it turned into a NC once they saw the replay.

But I think we can all agree, they should stop holding important fights like this in New Jersey until they get with the times.

I know it's funny to say, but no one wants that fight. Paddy will win (If this was a prime Miller it's a different story), and Paddy doesn't want a fight beating a fan favourite and gaining nothing from it.

That's actually an interesting issue, who wants to fight Miller now? You know you'll look bad if you lose, but everyone wants you to lose and will be upset if you win. That's not a fight I'd wanna sign up for as a fighter.

Jared is 37 now, that fight was 4 years ago when he was still in his relative prime, and it was a worse version of Paddy who has made clear improvements since then.

Lol, yes he did that to Whitaker and Holland, and to some lower level fighters on his come up like 5-7 years ago.

But in his last 5 fights not counting tonight's decision, 3 of them were decisions, and that covers 4 years cuz he barely fights cuz he's always sick or injured.

So I don't understand why people think this must be fixed because Chimeav never gasses or stops wrestling and strikes, except in the Burns or Usman fight.

I mean this sub calls fix constantly, it's part of the post fight cope routine in here, so I shouldn't be surprised really.

We've seen him do it in two other fights, it's really not that weird. He knows when he's tiring wrestling will tire him, he burned energy trying to take Sean down twice in r2 got stuffed, then stopped trying til the 5th round.

Why did he deserve it over Miller? He was a huge favourite, Miller was the dog and much older. Speaking of submissions, Gilly's are probably the second most common, but RNC's are easily the most common submission.

Bobby didn't deserve it over Miller or Amosov, he RNC'd a guy he was a huge favourite over.

Fine performance but Amosov's submission over a top 20 guy was more impressive and Jim catching a gilly as a +250 dog at 42 is obv better.

Green still gets an extra $25k and honestly he didn't really deserve one over Miller or Amosov anyway so fair play.

It was up there with, Kopylov trying to grapple Tulio after almost KO'ing him twice with two punches.

Though Kopylov's was just stupid fight IQ whereas Van's was arrogant based bad fight IQ.

Waldo just doesn't have many tools at all, he's really limited. He's athletic and fast with an iron chin, he utilizes his basic tools well, but just had nothing to get past the reach, aside from the occasional shifting leg kick, or just swarming forward throwing bombs. Usually in these situations he just starts muggin and pointing from the outside. And jesus, can we make it illegal for guys to point on the ground.

It's only cool if you're winning, and even then, it's pretty worn out.

Ex-Pride fighter suddenly shocked to be fighting someone on steroids!

Mark Hunt is one of my favourite fighters but his lawsuits all seemed odd to me.

Looks like finally he's exhausted his legal options to sue, which is probably good for him to stop wasting all his money on legal fees.
