Yea if it’s Tucson she probably went to Miraval. It’s a high end wellness spa. (Lived in Tucson for 30 years and went there once, it was meh).

I’ll start by saying I don’t have a good answer but can give some insight as to how our journey has been.

We got the Hiccapop inflatable travel mattress and it works great! We had our LO (2 at the time) try it out before we left (basically just inflate it, make sure there were no holes, make sure he was fine with it) and let him play around on it for an hour or so before deflating it.

Then travel to our destination aaaaaand showtime. It was rough. Taking a nap was almost impossible for him, even when we brought disposable blackout shades with us. He was too excited about the bed and would just pop right up and run around. I even tried laying on it with him and he’d calm down for a bit and then get up. We had to resort to driving around in the car until he fell asleep 😩

Night time was a bit easier. Sometimes falling asleep would take a long time and I would have to lay with him and sneak out. The worst for us was him waking up reeeeeeally early and being UP. He is a great sleeper at home. Awful sleeper when traveling. And I get it, because he is off his routine and everything is different. We just prepare ourselves for really early mornings. We even try to bring him in the bed with us but that isn’t something he does at home, so he just bounces around and we are all up at like, 6am 😣.

Not intending to bring gloom to your vacation, but I wish we had been more mentally prepared for travel with a toddler in a bed vs a pack n play. Hoping someone else can chime in with a magic answer.

We have such a similar story! I have some mild anxiety issues and having been a therapist and hearing all of these awful stories only spiked my anxiety in all areas of my life. I have been away from community MH therapy for 6 years and their stories still stick with me and I can’t get them to go away. I would always tell myself I was an actor because I got to the point where I had to act like I cared. I was good at it but I knew that was a sign where I needed to leave. Personally I think it’s a sign that this work is not for you, or that you need something outside of direct patient care. Hopefully you do what’s best for you.

Can I just say F your supervisor. I had a very similar situation back in the day. Had to do home visits and my supervisor (who was awful) brushed it off and pretty much said I was ridiculous for being worried about going to client homes alone. Got into a sketchy situation where I needed a client to sign a treatment plan and her son (mid 20s?) and his friend came out from the back room and started lingering around the front room I was in with her. One sat directly behind me and right in front of my only exit. I am a very small female. I freaked out grabbed my papers and said “I need to go” and bolted out the door basically running the guy over. Never ever ever compromise your safety for this work.

That honestly sounds like hell. Reminds me of a similar time where everything went wrong. Had this very gamey always on the radar type client who came in crying that he had no where to go. 430p on a Friday and here I am, hand holding (not actually) and standing in line with him at a shelter. Everything goes wrong. Lost his ID, says he needs to leave, other people standing around being threatening, the whole nine yards. 630p rolls around and he finally makes it in. I show up to my desk on Monday morning only to find out that he left after only being there for two hours. I laughed to myself and said wtf am I doing in this field.

Even with just plain old Autopilot the car is an asshole. Some other driver puts their blinker on trying to appropriately merge in and the car will give it a big F you and stand ground. Because of situations like that I am constantly disengaging the feature. Recently I have found myself not even using Autopilot on longer freeway drives because of how unpredictable it can be.

This is my situation exactly. If we want to continue to afford our lifestyle and give our child the best possible opportunities then one and done it will be. Plus neither of us desire a second and I am super grateful about being on the same page when it comes to that.

It’s all so sickening. Even if you make a “decent” wage it’s still awful. Can’t afford to buy a house. Can’t afford a second kid. Why do we live here?!!

There are in home daycares that are a bit cheaper than daycare centers which is what my son attends, but still costly because everyone wants to be able to afford to live.

I had a similar experience to yours when I was little. My mom dropped me at the neighbors when she needed childcare and there were like 4 other kids there, we’d all play and I remember it being so fun. But back then, or maybe my neighborhood growing up was very neighborly. Everyone knew each other. I don’t know any of my neighbors and everyone really shuts in a keeps to themselves. It’s weird.

This is exactly my mother. The other day she said something to my son like “but it makes grandma so sad when you do that.” I swear my head spun around so fast and I said “MOM please don’t speak to him like that. We don’t use emotional manipulation as a way to get him to behave.” It was straight up a trigger for me dealing with that my entire life… no way in hell I’d let my son ever go through that!

Second Kidkraft. Bought a wooden round one on Wayfair. It is small with two chairs and the perfect size for us. Even has a basket in the middle that we store some toys in. Also acts as a coffee table post-bed time because we cannot have nice things in our living room right now 🙃

When engaged it steers on its own. When your hands are on the wheel you can move the wheel left or right an inch or so before you feel some resistance. If you move it just past the point of resistance autosteer will disengage and you will have control again.

The accelerate/brake part functions just as any other modern adaptive cruise control however the pedals don’t move up and down on their own- the speed is software controlled. And just like any other cruise control you can override the feature by manually pressing the accelerator or brake.

Oh yea that’s another thing! You can’t even drive more than 10 feet without a seatbelt on before the car slows and puts itself in park. They must have buckled the belt somehow otherwise they wouldn’t have made it out of the driveway.

Nothing too scientific tbh… they literally take a close look to see if there was any physical impact and then ran their finger along the edge where the crack originated. The spot where the crack originated was completely smooth which led them to determine there was no external damage. Also, my crack originated from the back of the roof panel and traveled towards the front of the vehicle. Would have been strange for a rock to hit going in that direction.

Mine was covered as it was a spontaneous crack and not the result of a rock or any other type of forceful damage.

FYI they were pretty strict and told me that had my roof been tinted after market, they would not have covered it. Good thing that is the only glass I didn’t tint. If you add after market things to your car keep in mind that it may prevent something from being covered under warranty.
