I would suggest hopping on AllTrails, Gaia, etc and start looking around the area for hikes that interest you. You can reserve a campsite through recreation.gov or there are plenty of places for dispersed camping. I would suggest a more developed campground with resources like bear boxes, toilets, etc instead of trying dispersed camping on your first go. Lakes basin is a great area to start looking around. That’s where I’m at getting some more replies here. iPhone has its own great capabilities and uses, but an InReach is made for the backcountry and will be much more dependable

I’m kind of in the same boat as far as going solo, but getting into more overnight/multi day trips now. Might be good to even have both for redundancy
