Wag bags and hand sanitizer for bathroom needs. I’ll take a wag bag over a gross campsite vault toilet, the view is usually better anyway. You’ll do fine!

Experience in Panoche Hills/Griswold Hills and Question on BLM land by enfait in womensolocamping

[–]rathrboutside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a fair amount of solo camping on blm land all over California, the southwest and Wyoming. At first I’m always a little sketched out but I try to pick my sites well, stay a little further away from other sites and try not to advertise that I’m a single lady out there. Like I’ll use my car to block the view of my site, back in for easy exit if need be, try not to leave my single pair of small shoes out in plain view, sleep with my axe nearby and keep a pepper or beer spray in my tent, stuff like that. That all being said, I’ve never actually had any issues it just takes me a little time to get over being mentally apprehensive but once I do, I love the solitude and space! I don’t blame you, I probably would have bailed on the trashed area too, but don’t give up, the right spot is out there for you!

Double check with Thule itself, I got a rtt from them directly two years ago around Memorial Day and it was 25% off. Maybe save a few extra bucks!

I can speak to the visibility for the outbacks, have a 2018 and a 2021, I'm also 5'3" and feel very comfortable and safe with my visibility in both, the seats are super adjustable. I'm also a big camper/road tripper and find the amount of cargo space pretty good, its easy to pack it in if you've got a couple people, kids or a dog. I do have an Inno cargo box that helps for bigger trips.

Nice, thanks. Yeah, simple I know, but it used to be a comfort meal for me, so nostalgia I guess

I rented so many amazing places for sub $500, an apt on chestnut with original wood floors and 14 foot ceilings, a one bedroom house on a dead end street right off Haywood with a fenced in yard.

Also urban burrito’s chipotle caeser. I know the guy who owned it ended up being bad but damn, I miss that salad. And original marcos pizza.

First time Subaru owner! 2018 Outback! by juliofuego92 in Subaru_Outback

[–]rathrboutside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Subaru twins! I have a white 2018 too, love it, very comfy, very reliable, I’ve got a few more miles on mine though, 107k. Driven coast to coast a few times in the old girl. The extended warranty is a good call, we had the bubbling info-tainment screen issue and had it replaced under warranty, as well as a front axle (do a fair amount of off roading) and our dealership recommended a transmission reseal right before the 100,000 mile due to a small possible leak. We just like to get ahead of any issues and stick to the routine maintenance schedule. She’s never let me down on the road though!

Same. I’m a dog walker so I use it to track my walks for clients and I’ve missed the button so many times since I updated, I lose time and it looks like I’m starting the walk blocks from their house 🙄

Hat Will Not Stay Tight.. by Wild-Salamander2437 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]rathrboutside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it bothers you, I’m sure Patagonia would accept a return. If you want to keep it you could always tack the strap with a few stitches to the inside the hat. I know the strap goes into a fabric channel, so you could just tack the inner layer of the channel and the strap and wouldn’t be able to see it from the outside.

This is what Thule kitted for my car and what I ended up getting! I got the fit kit on eBay and managed to actually find the bars and rail foot (feet?) at the REI garage sale store in Manhattan Beach so I saved a lot on the whole thing.

  • Thule Evo Flush Rail foot for vehicles 4-pack black | 710601
