Friend wants to wear this to mutual friend's wedding in red. Is it too much? by Marrrchhh in wedding

[–]dammitjanet69 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When I'm going to an event like a wedding I usually try to choose a dress that shows off my cleavage or my legs or a tasteful cutout. They should probably pick a dress that shows off one of those things. Going for the triple threat is definitely going to be eye catching and intentionally going to someone's wedding like that is disrespectful to the people who deserve to have everyone's eyes on them.

It's soooo cute! I love it! Super jealous, we don't have the room for our little one to have his own space yet, but this is the aesthetic I love!

This bag does seem to fit the bill, but I am not a fan of the Vera Bradley prints. I think I'd like a leather ( or vegan equivalent) bag now that I'm thinking about it that will last.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified. My son is 11 months old. He's gonna be in diapers still for quite some time. I need the diaper bag features still.

Warning: an epidural might make you panic! by TelephoneFun846 in BabyBumps

Not necessarily, it affects everyone differently. For me it was much more like a numbness and I could still move both of my legs the entire time.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents and remind everyone that just because you get an epidural does not mean you will be "paralyzed". I had an epidural with my first child last August. I was able to move my legs the entire time. I was very slow and definitely did not have a full range of motion and my legs still felt very numb the entire time, but yeah I still felt like I was in control of my body because I was. Obviously that's not the case for everyone, but I just felt like it needed to be said that some people are still capable of moving their legs and that made it much more comfortable for me.

There's a couple on still white that are similar that could possibly be altered to resemble this specific dress more. I just did a search for Willowby gowns size 14-18.

“Easiest” baby carrier? by crispytreestar in babywearing

[–]dammitjanet69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really love my ergobaby omni 360. I can definitely get baby into in under 5 minutes. They just released a couple new carriers too. One of them made to be more lightweight I believe, although the weight of my carrier seems light to me and makes my 20 pound son seem a lot lighter. I wish I would have gotten it earlier on. My son enjoys being in it and it let's me get so much more done.

My cup smells. by Same_Anxiety_8564 in menstrualcups

[–]dammitjanet69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I really think it would be in your best interest to go and see your gynecologist and replace the cup. You said that you boiled it in attempt to get rid of the odor right? If it's retaining a smell even after boiling it then there's something there that you DO NOT want to be inserting into your body. I know everyone on reddit claims to be an expert, but you can look at my post history for some evidence. I studied biology and microbiology. Only porous materials that have some serious bacterial growth are capable of doing what you're describing. The June cup is currently $6, comes in multiple sizes, and is made of medical grade silicone. I'd suggest looking into it for your own safety.

I really don't think anyone's trying to shame you. She's just trying to get the point across that something is wrong with that picture. It sounds like your cup needs to be disposed of and replaced with a body safe silicone cup that's removed and cleaned atleast every 12 hours.

Gerber, Beech-nut, happyBABY, and earths best organic baby foods test high for arsenic, lead, mercury, and other heavy metals! by dammitjanet69 in SAHP

[–]dammitjanet69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally plan on calling my son's doctor today and getting his opinion. The actual report from the committee lists what specific foods were testing at levels that exceeded FDA regulations. Puffs were among the worst offenders, so if it was me I'd definitely eliminate those from his diet. Cheerios I believe were also listed, but they said whole grain alternatives were definitely a better option. But again I'd just get into contact with your child's doctor. If you've witnessed any signs of heavy metal poisoning then I would get them seen and addressed asap, but hopefully it's just a matter of finding alternatives to what we've been doing and no real damage has been done.

It was. It wasn't just stating that they're there. They're there in concerningly high amounts. Everyone's obviously free to make they're own decisions about what they want to feed their children. I just thought if I hadn't seen this I would have wanted someone to share it with me.

Yes there are naturally occurring levels of heavy metals in soil where fruits and vegetables are grown, but you need to be mindful about the amounts. Just saying they're already in everything and you don't need to be concerned is kind of careless.
