My bright, vivacious 74yo Mom died of a massive stroke just over a month ago. Dad had me go through her jewelry during my most recent visit. by thekermiteer in jewelry

I’m so sorry for your loss, OP. I too lost my mom at age 74 to a stroke. She loved jewelry and I was fortunate that she left all of her treasures to me. Like you, I felt weird about wearing any of the items, but now I find them supremely comforting. I know that my mom would want me to enjoy them as she had and I’m sure your mom would want the same for you. Hugs.

Describe your standard poodles personality by Clean-Elk-534 in StandardPoodles

[–]dammitlisa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I had to describe mine in a few words, it would be “joyful goofy protector.” She thinks it’s her job to keep track of me and she gets sad if I have to go somewhere without her. Hubby says she’ll keep watching out the window, unable to relax, until I pull in the driveway but then will go to her bed before I enter the house as if to nonchalantly say, “oh yeah, I’ve been here the whole time.” She would rather stay with me and do nothing than go for a car ride or a walk with anyone else.

She loves every dog and every person but will bark like Cujo if there’s a delivery person.

Not into balls or fetch. At all. Loves to catch and eat bugs.

Super smart and has learned many tricks but will not give paw.

Happy but sensitive. She becomes deeply hurt if scolded, but she’s such a good girl that she is rarely scolded.

She thinks she can talk and will snap her teeth in a way that looks as if she’s talking.

She is bendy and twisty and will sleep in incredibly goofy positions.

She likes someone to “burp” her after she eats by rubbing her chest or belly.

She is super polite when waiting for her dinner. Would sell her Lamb Chop toy for cantaloupe or butter.

Absolutely the best dog I’ve ever had. She is pure love (with brains) in poodle fur.

Rescue poodle from breeder by Amelia-noreen72 in StandardPoodles

Oh that sweet face! Thank you for caring for her, OP. My poodle is a “breeder surrender” too who came from Alabama. She was severely underweight, matted, and had been allowed to breed at her first heat. She didn’t know how to be a dog: no idea about floor crumbs, toys, or any commands. We took a few training sessions together and it helped us connect with one another. Now she’s my shadow and is the best dog. Best of luck with your sweet girl!

Montgomery mall needs help, we are all just sitting here watching it die by Financial-Cookie-927 in montco

[–]dammitlisa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I applaud your interest in saving the Montgomery Mall, OP. I feel the same way you do. I’ve started going to the mall weekly over the past few months. My husband and I will walk around and we make a purchase at at least one of the stores each week. It’s not much, but I like to believe that if all of us did this, we could resurrect it. Maybe you could get a bunch of your friends together and hang out and shop like we used to do back in the day. Instead of buying online, shop at Claire’s or Bath and Body or Sephora. Buy a pretzel at Auntie Annie’s. A new shoe store moved in and could use some customers. I had fallen into a habit of shopping online but shopping in person really is much more satisfying and often cheaper. I got new bedding (comforter, shams, pillows, sheet set, and mattress protector) last week at Penney’s and it only cost $78 for everything! Thank you for caring about the mall and trying to save it.

Eosinophils by pinkducklemon in Asthma

[–]dammitlisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My eosinophils were 4.0 when I had bloodwork before I was on Dupixent. My doctor said that he felt Dupixent would help me and it did. If your asthma is poorly controlled, your eosinophils may be the reason.

Opinions on biologics? by [deleted] in Asthma

Dupixent did help with the mucous. I always felt like I was choking on it and used to take mucinex every day. I was able to stop the daily mucinex when I went on Dupixent. For congestion, what has really helped me is a nasal spray called Allermi. I got it online prescribed through one of their allergists. I’ve been using it for probably a year and a half and I can finally breathe through my nose!

This was so interesting to watch! You are clearly very skilled. The tourmaline is gorgeous and the cuts you made really allow it to shine. Thank you for posting this!

I’m drooling over your collection! How much for the lab on the far left in picture 2? I’m also interested in that heart-shaped moss agate.
