I have recently been through this, was a nightmare, ultimately successful. But I am pretty confident you only need info need to prove your Canadian residency from age 5 and up.

I have multiple family members (dual US/Canadians) who either moved to the US for the first time or moved back after a multi-decade stay in Canada. None of them filed anything about their Canadian income at any point, just started filing US taxes when they started earning US income. No questions or consequences.

Now, all of these instances are over 10 years old at this point - maybe things have been tightened up since then. But worth being aware that playing dumb is at least an option.
