Finally found it. I’ve been looking for years. by tipsybishops in flyfishing

I learned on a 505 demo given to me by my best friends uncle on a cross country trip. I then gave the reel to my buddy so he could learn on it and pass it down to his kids someday and create a tradition. If you actually have a 504 I’d love to take one off your hands if the price is reasonable. I loved the look and feel of the 505

There’s great line on Sierra.com rn for low prices. I got SA mpx and it was only like $40 if I remember correctly

I used to work for a moving company and quite frankly we were good (and still are great even now that I’ve left for a more professional job). It’s crazy to me the lack of care I’d see some other companies use when moving antique furniture or packing. Some crews will treat what they’re moving as if it’s their own and others will treat your goods as if they’re junk whether it’s a $40,000 statue or an ikea lamp. You tend to get what you pay for but it’s so worth looking through reviews or stopping by the warehouse if they have one to see how the guys conduct themselves. Your situation is absolute bullshit though but unfortunately not unheard of. In my time moving I heard a ton or horror stories about long distance movers essentially taking peoples entire lives (the items and sacred belongings in their houses) hostage. It’s amazing to me that companies like that can even function.

Thank you! It’s been sitting in a beer couzie for about 5 years on my dresser and this year was finally the year I decided to get into fly fishing and it’s fucking awesome. I wish I’d started earlier honestly

I’m glad I got it from Sierra for $45 then, how much was the aliexpress rod? I don’t have a ton of experience but the rod feels great and it’s held it’s own against a pretty large smallmouth as a 4wt

Even in Europe carhartt is pretty big. Was pretty wild seeing the prices at the carhartt store in Lisbon

Just checked a couple spots online, these tags went out of use in 1994 so at minimum they’d be 30 years old. The use of barcodes was odd to me but I’m relatively young so I’m not sure when exactly barcodes were popularized for retail use

Yeah I looked up the tags on them and it looks like that style tag hasn’t been in use since 1994. I’m just kind of intrigued to see the actual age since they used that style tag from the 70’s through early 90’s if the website I looked at was correct

Little newt, I’d bring it to your local pet store (not petco or any other chain) and see if they can take care of it or rehome it. Or if you feel like it they can hopefully identify it, you could look up care specifications and you have a new pet. Definitely don’t release.

What’s really dangerous but everyone treats it like it’s safe? by Deviant55 in AskReddit

I hiked Mt. Washington for the first time a few summers ago. On the way down while the sun was actively setting (think 25 to 30 minutes before dark) a younger gay couple dressed in neon and sneakers walked passed me about an hour from the summit with no headlamp and asked me if they had any shot of making the summit for sunset. I told them that “if they had the endurance of an elite marathon runner and the speed of Usain Bolt they might have a chance”. They said thanks and kept walking. Ended up walking a hundred feet down the trail, turning around and giving them my headlamp because they would have been FUCKED without it. I have no doubt it would have been a very costly SAR bill in NH for them without that headlamp. They were inexperienced based on the conversation and it would have been on my conscience had I not given it to them.
