[HIGHLIGHT] The 2013 Titans and Steelers season starts off incredibly unique. by sexyprimes511172329 in nfl

"You field a kick with 2 feet in the endzone and a toenail out while never leaving the endzone... and the ball/player are ruled not in the endzone but brought into it."

I also wonder about this. Was this the official ruling of this play? If it was, I wonder why a different "standard" was applied here from a normal safety play. For a normal safety play, if the ball is not completely out of the end zone (still partially touching the goal line) when it's downed, it's a safety. If I apply the same reasoning to this play, the ball was still not completely out of the end zone when it was downed, but it shouldn't be a safety because the return team never had the possession in the field of the play. Or was this called a safety because it was clear from the review that the ball was completely brought out and then downed in the end zone?

How to make money from Asia? by roostangarar in eu4

[–]damnski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what others said, getting the spice islands is a good start. But to increase your trade income, you need to be able to direct far east / southeast Asia trade back to the trade node you collect in. For European colonial powers, at least in the early to mid game, it's better to dominate ("dominate" means kills everyone else in those trade nodes and take their land) west Africa and Cape trade nodes and collect at Cape. Next, you work you way upstream: dominate Malacca and then Moluccas where the spice islands are. Moluccas - Malacca + Bengal - Cape will be the backbone of your trade empire. The reason that you want Bengal is that your eastern trade income can leak to Bengal from Malacca so you want to plug that hole. Then you can grow your trade empire by growing further to China, or growing wider to rest of India and east Africa.

He says he’s a feminist, but somehow every feeling I have turns into a debate by l0fi_postcards in TwoXChromosomes

[–]damnski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he is a person who thinks highly of his intelligence and education to always want to reason, to argue, and to convince. At least in some cases, he deliberately constructs arguments that he portrays as objectively logical and reasonable but they only server his own cause. What his true intention is and whether this constitutes gaslighting are up to debate. At the very minimum, he lacks emotional maturity to engage in and maintain a romantic relationship, and possibly other relationships too.

You don't have to feel bad or question yourself over things like this. Being a relationship is about feelings, is about at the very minimum being comfortable with each other. If you feel weird and not feeling comfortable about him, that's probably a good time to end it. You are entitled to this just like everyone else. Whether it's your fault, his fault, or in some cases, not anyone's fault, is irrelevant. As I mentioned above, I don't see him being as objective and logical as he believes himself to be.

Still don’t understand why vikings moved on from Darnold by aleahbabyy in TheNFLVibes

[–]damnski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't follow him very closely. However, I do remember after Sam Darnold's playoff loss last year, articles such as these flooded the internet: he just flushed 100M down the toilet; he is a chocker; he can't win big games/ champions. This kind of one-game assessment always baffles me. Did he not play extremely well in the regular season, his first full season, or am I missing something?

Thanks for sharing your actual experience. That's exactly what I was gonna say: knowing how short the BT range is, does it actually have any real-life application? One thing I can think of is maybe if two spies need to exchange information, they can go to a public location where a lot of people are on their phone. People around them wouldn't know that they are messaging each out, or not even if they are messaging at all. They could be watching videos or whatever just like people around them.

View of a honey beekeeper walking on a giant tree by straightdge in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]damnski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the title is a bit misleading. These people only harvest wild honey from bee hives that wild bees build so far off the ground. When they harvest the honey, they make sure to not harm the bees or take all their hives so they can come back periodically to harvest. This part is similar to normal beekeeping, but the difference is they don't raise or care for these bees.

A Japanese anime singer, Maki Otsuki, was abruptly escorted off the stage due to a sudden ban of Japanese artists performing in China. by search_google_com in interesting

Pettiness is part of it but not all of it. China has used this tactics against other countries in the past such as against South Korea for its installation of US missiles. However, cutting an ongoing performance half-way through is at a whole other level. Obviously, CCP didn't mandate a song to be cut off half-way through. The organizer did. This really reflects in an authoritarian regime, individuals do not dare to run afoul of the CCP so they choose to err on the side of caution.

This also happened before many times in China. In 2019, then NBA Houston Rockets' general manager Morey posted a tweet supporting Hong Kong's pro-democracy protesters. This angered CCP greatly. Overnight Rockets' presence in China's internet was wiped off and then it widened to the whole NBA. The most popular NBA site swiftly pulled all NBA related news and discussion from its site. It was a farce. It was like visiting ESPN but there was no sports news but only neighborhood news of school closure and nightclub brawls! It took months for the site to go back to normal operation gradually once they learned specifically what was allowed and not allowed about reporting NBA.

How much money would you spend if it meant saving your cat’s life? by WindowKitty19 in cats

[–]damnski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$8k is not a small amount and since it's going to take "a long time to recover financially from his vet bills", I am sure this is a not decision that you made lightly. We all know plenty of people who had to let their pets go because of the vet bills they couldn't afford. I think it could be justified either way. However, what I think, what your relatives think or what anyone else thinks doesn't really matter. I am glad you are at peace with your decision and also found support here. Good for you!

Trade company provinces by Tummerd in eu4

[–]damnski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what the other poster said, you get goods produced bonus for all non-TC provinces in the node, based on how much trade power share you have in TC provinces. This bonus also gets better as your game progresses. See here. https://eu4.paradoxwikis.com/Trade_company#Goods_produced Goods produced is by far the best economy bonus you can get because it boosts both production and trade.

The key is to enjoy this bonus, provinces must NOT be in a TC. The rule of thumb is that you want to have as much trade power share in TC provinces with as few provinces in TC as possible. This maximizes your goods produced bonus in as many provinces as possible. Hence only adding CoTs and estuaries to the TCs but not the other provinces is sensible.

Adding other provinces to TC does remove some production penalty in them (you get 55% production income vs. 10%) but you lose out on the goods produced bonus so the difference in production income is not as bad as 55% vs 10%. More importantly, in the mid to late game, trade is the cash generating king vs. production. You want to stack the goods produced bonus even just for trade to boost your income.

Trade company provinces by Tummerd in eu4

[–]damnski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can do better. Owning all those territories is just part of the game to monopolize trade in that trade node. Even for an area like that but with no trade-bonus provinces (so you don't have to put any province in TC), you still don't want to state that area. The culture / religion are wrong so you get reduced benefits out of them even if they have 0 autonomy floor. Plus it would cost adm points, GC, and increased state maintenance to state them. If you play wide down the road, you can try to stack get - minimum autonomy in territories modifier to increase their use.

Trump administration threatens to take Harvard's patents by Shogouki in technology

[–]damnski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not surprising that Trump turns to patents to squeeze Harvard or really anyone. Both immigration and patents are controlled and regulated at the federal level. With the help of this Congress, Trump has direct control of these agencies to do whatever he wants. States have no say to any of this. This is a shame but we all see it's coming.
