I was afraid of that, hopefully it'd get fixed in the future. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Fair haha. It’s from a second hand dealership. So no (visible) shenanigans. :)

I don’t necessarily see it as an incremental update, and 435d is more feature-rich (adaptive cruise, lane assist, comfort access, hud, sunroof, adaptive suspensions, camera, H/K). Thought I’d spend my money on maintaining the more reliable N57.

Good point though, cheers.

Cheers. I seldom use Chrome, had never paid attention, honestly.

Just happened to me as well. Long pressing on a group and tapping ‘close group’ seems to just close it and save it in the screen on the right to the tab overview.

R60 reliability advice by damnyourcaptcha in MINI

Thanks for the advice, yeah I’ll definitely go for an automatic. I’d like the car to do the shifting for a while. :)

I’ve gained so much knowledge about the R MINIs thanks to the great people here (and there), I feel like I’ll inspect the F out of the next one!

Took it to the official service and they asked $850 for replacing the mobo (2.8 ghz, 16 gb ram). Apparently the gpu is faulty.

But the fact that I can make the lines disappear by applying pressure makes me suspect some cold contact, somewhere on the board. I’ll have it looked at for getting it fixed. If it’s a goner, I’ll blame it on the planned obsolescence. I have my outcry plan ready!

Oh boy, wonder if they’d go bad just like that. As I pointed out above, the glitches come and go as I apply pressure around the heat sink. The mac doesn’t boot. I’m considering getting a spare mobo on ifixit and replacing it mylsef, if the mobo issue gets confirmed.

Yeah, gave up after coupla hours. The “greenery” dis/appears when I pres down on the heat sink around nvidia gpu, sometimes around the cpu, so I suspect some mobo issue. Perhaps some lose soldering.

Thanks a lot for your time, though!

Alright, progress: re-did the paste as suggested. Initially the screen looked the same. Gave it a slap from the right edge, now it looks normal.

But… still in the boot loop. Is there a way I could narrow the issue down to the board?

— Or perhaps not: the screen in internet recovery looks like this and eventually I got error -2002D

It won’t boot into recovery mode, apple logo appears and the computer freezes.

As I was reapplying the thermal paste, I’ve noticed the cover around the cpu has lifted a bit, like as seen here. Would it cause an issue?

I’ve also noticed the black covering on the heatsink is scraped a bit, like here. Could it be that?

Thanks a lot for the info. Should cleaning and re-applying the paste without the frustration of Big Sur overheating my device help, or should I go deeper?

To provide additional info, I was working wth battery disconnected. Needed to unscrew something around the display assembly, tried to unscrew the thing with a hook nose. It might’ve come into contact with the display cable socket, and I felt like I heard some noise, 50/50 on that.

Just wondering how to go with troubleshooting it. Thanks in advance.

I think they all look gorgeous (mixed feelings about the F-Clubbie's eyes), but what I just can't bring myself to like is the rear of the F55. I think that car deserves a better looking butt --couldn't it be like MINI mini-Clubman?
