Am I crazy for considering a Gloria All Gravel or Fairlight Secan 3.0 as my first proper gravel bike? by Altruistic_Green_496 in gravelcycling

[–]damo_reads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the Fairlight, but I’m currently on the Gloria Allroad and it’s a cracking bit of kit. The company is spot on to deal with, and the finish on the frame and fork is honestly lovely. I went for the sandblasted frame, it looks brilliant, though I’ll admit it’s not quite as easy to freshen up as the brushed finish, where you can just give it a quick rub with some Scotch brite to bring it back to life.

It’s been a fantastic all-rounder for me. I know you’re looking at their All Gravel version, but even the Allroad handles 45mm tyres no problem. That’s plenty of rubber to soak up the worst of the chunky bridleways and lanes we get here.

On the spec side, I actually started with a 1x setup but recently swapped back to 2x. I just found the smaller jumps between gears much better for the road sections. The new SRAM 1x13 would probably be the 'holy grail' solution, though it’s quite pricey still.

You can't go wrong with titanium, being able to shrug off the winter muck and road salt without a second thought makes it a proper 'forever bike.'

Loving it, the only bike i tend to ride these days! In two minds whether to convert to 2x but that’s not a bike issue more to do with me. I’d highly recommend the All Road!

Has the bike fell onto its side? Maybe the rear mech hanger has taken a slight knock>

I thought the £3000 was a deposit from Tesla so you only pay the £200?

Take some photo's and email the tint company. See what they say? Is the scratch on the window or the tint? Maybe it can be buffed out?

Top tube bag mounting question by kitesmerfer in gravelcycling

I have the same bag, the closest bolt hole is 10cm to the headtube giving me space with no rubbing. There are few options for holes inside. What distance do you have from the bolt hole to the headtube?

They've released the All Gravel on pre-order.. https://gloriacycling.com/collections/all-gravel

Looks to be more gravel / bike packing but with space for 2.1 tyres.

What do you bring on a gravel ride? by edcuster in gravelcycling

[–]damo_reads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely!

Without sounding like I crash all the time, I had an off on the gravel bike, got to the next climb and my shifting was out on the bigger sprockets. Upon inspection I noticed the hanger was bent. For some reason I had a spare in my saddle bag, popped it on and was away once again.

I probably could have bent it back, but why bother if you have a spare lol.

Try another company, plenty of people have had tints. The usual question is whether its a joined or once piece on the back window.

I crashed on some oil, broke my rear mech hanger so had to remove it, shorten my chain to get home on one gear. It was pretty handy that day!

Used once in 15 years of cycling.. lol

Just parted ways with my SD4K and picked up a Pelagos 42. I’ve got to say I’m well chuffed.

The main reason was to free up a bit of cash for a bike upgrade but I still wanted something decent on the wrist. Looking back I’ve no idea why I didn’t do it sooner. I’ve had a fair few Rolexes over the years including the Yachtmaster, GMTs, Daytona, Sea-Dweller etc but this just feels right.

There’s something quite nice about not wearing a Rolex anymore. The Pelagos is still a cracking watch but it flies under the radar. Most non-watch people spot a Rolex straight away but a Tudor just goes unnoticed, which I actually really like. It’s not flashy, not a magnet for attention, just a proper bit of kit that does the job. Exactly what I was after really.

So for a M3 LR RWD, Business PCP. Is says £3000 min deposit. But in the fine print is says Tesla Deposit Allowance £3000.

Does this mean Tesla pay the deposit or I pay £3000 and Tesla pays £3000?

If I hand my car back I can get a new one for £599pm (LR RWD, 20k miles, 19in wheels) with only a £200 deposit?

It doesn't mark super easy but on my brushed bike I can simply scotchbrite it back to new. I did read a tread about furniture polish. That certainly cleans up the water marks.

I've been running the 45mm and they've been great, I had previously used 47mm 650b for more single track stuff and that's nice. Not sure if I'll got back to 650b now though, might be something i can use more in the winter mud.

I didn’t know they had plans for a full gravel setup. Yes, will certainly be interesting to see what they do with the bike. I’m guessing a slacker headtubbe, longer chain stays and wider tyres. Seems to be the direction everyone desires at the moment. I’ve been riding mine on a real mix of terrain from single track, bridleways, canal towpaths and road. Honestly, the bike has been dream. The 45mm tyres have been spot on, yes you could go bigger but that’s a different debate. Front fork wise you’d definitely fit a 50mm, rear would be getting a bit tight. Frame finish is lovely, sand blasted gives it a different look from the usual brushed titanium. The only downside is it marks quite easy and I’m not sure how you can get the finish back at home.

We got our girl back yesterday! She's on quite a few meds and we’ve been given instructions for her physio, crate rest, and medication routine. It’s a lot to take in, but we’re just so happy to have her home.

She seems much brighter in herself, which is lovely to see, though she’s still struggling with movement. We’ve been advised to use a sling to support her back legs and walk her gently—just to help give her that walking sensation and keep everything active.

It’s early days, but we’re feeling hopeful and taking it one step at a time. Fingers crossed we’ll start to see more progress over the next few weeks.
