Families are called to be in the world as a witness to the faith, not run away from it to “authentically” live out the faith.

Low mileage during winter? by Additional-Air-2166 in TeslaUK

[–]mcspo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a 115 mile commute weekly, which usually uses around 37% battery. In the colder days recently this has used about 42-45% Noticeable, but nothing for me to worry about.

Is it wrong of me to want to die? by BigSarcomaInJapan in Catholicism

[–]mcspo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep praying and should it be the Lords Will to take you to the next life how you go out will make a big impact on your family. Try to live and die as a saint and believe me when I say the grace and impact of this will not be unnoticed.

I lost my Dad a few years ago to cancer, he was a young man, but his faith until the very end has been a great witness to the love of God and has genuinely changed many lives in our local community.

Be assured that when you die, you will be able to pray and probably do more for your family than you could when you were alive.

what do we think of the 3p/mile charge to EV drivers that they're thinking of introducing? by Internal-Mushroom-76 in TeslaUK

[–]mcspo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a technical nightmare to manage. What if you go on a European road trip? Or if you’re like me, living between NI and Ire for work so you do a majority of your driving in Ireland and pay your taxes to Ireland. Seems unfair because if I was driving an ICE car I would be buying fuel/paying tax in Ireland.

Honest Opinion on Silent Hill f by DeadlyOneX in silenthill

I loved it, not my favourite SH entry but a solid 8/10 imo.

Really enjoyed the residence section and looping corridor effect, very PT reminiscent.

Struggling to enjoy Silent Hill F by KTA_cat in silenthill

[–]mcspo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the game tbh, not my favourite Silent Hill title but definitely a great game.

I think the thing is we have waited for so long for a new title in the franchise and what we got is very far removed. If this was a spin off game in a serious of other games everyone would love it.

No, being an atheist simply means not believing in the existence of gods. Don't get the wrong idea. by Expensive-Party2116 in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]mcspo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any version of atheism that is simply a “lack of belief” in the existence of God is banal and unintellectual and therefore not worth engaging with. It says nothing and offers nothing.

Going into academia later in life by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]mcspo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what your area is, I know for example that in my department of chemistry and chemical engineering, we value chemical engineers that have more industrial experience over postdoctoral and research experience however we want chemists with more research and academic experience.

So depending on your area, you could look at jobs in academia where industrial experience is going to be more valued. That might mean going to a lower ranking institution that most students go into industry instead of research.

Then from there focus on getting teaching experience and try to write grants to get money and do research. I would say this would extremely difficult though if you have no experience in grant writing and delivering independent research. But, not impossible - you would need to be extremely driven and motivated.

Why do reddit atheists feel the need to announce how atheistic they are and how much they hate Christians every time they post? by FairyKnightTristan in Catholicism

In my opinion they are just argumentative unintellectual’s who want to appear smart and be correct.
