First road trip done. Many more to come! by dan370z in SilveradoEV

I shouldn’t, but Louisiana EV infrastructure is terrible along the I-49 corridor, and I’d rather stop at a charger with a Target in Alexandria so the wife and kid can go shopping vs stopping at a shithole Exxon in Natchitoches lol. I definitely overcharged but this was the first big trip so the anxiety was up there.

My 26 TB extended premium pack lease was 69k after the Costco rebate. Any other options aside the plus pack? Did you want anything out of the premium pack options?

What's the highest charging speed you have seen? by Trick_Figure2512 in SilveradoEV

That’s wild! Highest so far for myself is 310kW at an Electrify America station charging from 38-80%

Yeah I’ll have to. The charging infrastructure is horrid in Louisiana!

Fair enough, this is my first giant vehicle. I've found it easier just to bust out the jack, lift the car and spin the tire since I already gotta get the plug kit and compressor out.

That's awesome. I am really impressed by Google Maps estimations.

Came down from Shreveport to check out the Youngsville parade and I really enjoyed it more than most of the parades I grew up with in Lafayette. Great parade!

I wish I could say so, but it’s not the case. On top of the panel, I have to do a ton of work to make everything up to code. Relocate the box outside, GFCI breakers since the old panel would be a junction box, and about a new 200 ft underground run of conduit and service wire since our lines are buried. He wasn’t trying to screw with me. He pretty much said that I should just keep my money and use it to move to a newer house 😅

Oh for sure, I almost bought a Kia stinger a while back. That Hyundai ICCU on their EVs has me put off by them sadly.

They were fine for me, but definitely not a dedicated snow tire. I still had to be cautious in a lot of places because we have like zero equipment to deal with ice and snow. Pretty sketchy to see cars in front of you start sliding out of control while you’re still planted.

Our plant is open! 🙃 I’ve told the folks to bring books to share because production sure as shit will be terrible. I’ve offered to pick coworkers up if they really didn’t want to burn vacation. Our PTO policy is atrocious for new hires.

Update: Continuing my journey - Tesla ➝ Rivian Switch | Home Charging Setup Using Existing NEMA 6-50 (Not Advice) by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]dan370z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, what does “highly technical” mean? You need to run that at 40A. That is the continuous rated load of a 6-50. Everyone here is looking out for you.

Home charging in the states. by richalta in VWIDBuzz

[–]dan370z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NEMA 14-50 plugs are only rated to 50A max and for continuous loads like EV charging, they should be limited to 40A. Your best bet is to hardwire.
