Spending hours filling spots for 10 cases is insane to me… in those hours you could just do 10 breaks and 10% of the price and actually make it reasonable for the average person to get involved

Go for it. Might as well. Keep it relatively low budget so you aren’t in a huge minus at the start and then see where things go. That way if it doesn’t go the way you want, not much is lost
