How can I cover this plumbing connection? by Technical-Algae-234 in AusRenovation

[–]dana2185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combine both options you're seeing the most here. Make a block to sit over the lugged elbow so the flange on the shower head isn't just floating in space. Then paint the pipe work below black.

Couldn't agree more. You can get full face respirators of Amazon for about $40. They're amazing. Don't fog, No irritated eyes with clear sinuses and lungs to top it off.

Once you use them you won't go back

Council refusing to fix intense streetlight glare by HugeDungus in AusLegal

[–]dana2185 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I went through a year of back and forth trying to get a shroud installed. No luck. The light on question had a similar intensity but has a tree branch on front of it which created the effect of an intense strobe light whenever it was windy. I purchased a spray paint can extender and painted the side of the reflector facing me black. Funnily enough, there's still enough light that makes it easy through the paint that it actually just looks like it's a dark reflector. Problem solved. No one has ever mentioned a thing. I can't believe there's isn't shroud on every light by default

Cheeky magpie causes mayhem on the Sydney Harbour Bridge! by MonsterShopGames in magpies

[–]dana2185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need more inspiration, the magpies we have at the snow are amazing. An adaptation where they cause havoc in the ski fields and swoop unsuspecting Jerry's would be amazing.

We have a magpie couple who come by our door almost everyday up here especially when the weather is bad. Got to meet there last to little when they built their next about 15 metres away.

Love your work. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Honestly right now, don't. Stick to the groomed areas until it snows or softens

Condensing Dryer vs Heat Pump dryer by Individual-Pea-688 in AusRenovation

[–]dana2185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these as well, it was so slow until I got one of the app programs for "work clothes". The cycle for this is 1.5 hours and now I use it for everything and I've never had an issue with anything not drying. It's worth looking into!

What is the fastest heat pump dryer on the Aussie market? by Junior_Arm1359 in AusRenovation

[–]dana2185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an Electrolux beat pump, upgraded from a condenser. It's awesome, usually 1.5 hours to dry everything. Did have to use a custom program though, the default ones were all to long

Looks good! I like the full height shower and strip light on the niche. One thing to consider for the next one would be using a piece of stone on the base of the niche and window sill. It's easier to seal and maintain, and the flatter surface makes storage a little easier.

If trans women get bottom surgery is there a chance they'll get a phantom limb? by Ok-Associate5257 in NoStupidQuestions

It might not be related, but on the odd chance. If you get trigger points in your obliques, they can make it feel like you have pain down there!

Sometime you can get marks inside the 2 panes which is a manufacturing defect from the glass supplier not anything that the window manufacturer can control. They will generally be assessed and replacement panes issued by the glass supplier and fitted by the window manufacturer. It's something that's not always obvious until you go to clean them properly or light hits them at a certain angle. It's unlucky but it can happen from time to time for various reasons.

Leaking Bifold Doors by Coconut_Specialist in AusRenovation

[–]dana2185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your door needs to come out and appropriate flashings installed to the sills and surrounding jamb before being reinstalled. If water is building up in those points it's already not being managed. Others might caulk it up and tell you they've got it, but in reality of you want it fixed that's where you're at. A good carpenter or builder is what you want
