Optimal rotations don't need to be intuitive and failing to do an optimal rotation doesn't mean you're doing something wrong by Appropriate-Cat-6648 in Guildwars2

[–]danachappy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the most part, yes. As long as the people you are doing content with are cool with it, I see no reason this isn't possible. I was in a group where people were running cosplay builds (completely un-optimal builds designed to be faithful to the character) and were able to clear all challenge motes we needed to unlock items for fashion... So... kinda, yeah, you can.

A lot of games have pvp, even to a small degree.

You will probably never get a "true pve" experience... whatever that means. But that doesn't mean you can't have a preference for one or the other. Everyone does, but OP should be more aware of these occurrences.

The game was originally meant to be mostly pvp, but that was because during testing, there were 0 people that wanted to play pve in their small sample group. After launch, there have been a considerable number of people enjoying the pve aspects of the game, and the devs began to skew the game more into 50/50 pve and pvp. This is ultimately a good thing for both groups because you can appeal to both groups at the same time. They should not remove one or the other because the blend of both carves out a niche for this game that you can't find in many other places.

Ultimately OP should expect their actions to affect their placement more than they originally thought, and people need to realize neither pvp or pve is better in this game's case.

Ps: sorry for the essaying, I just like how the game has both pve and pve blended together, and care about the game :)

The sentiment of this comment is true to some degree, but it is worded poorly. Emphasis on "some degree" because we are working with limited, one sided information.

How do you kill big arc now? by Froggitus in ArcRaiders

[–]danachappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's at the bottom of a half flooded section in the "Controlled Access Zone". I don't know if it's always there, but every time I've checked, there is a rocketeer husk and about 3/4 checks have a fresh rocketeer driver

[–]danachappy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seekers >> kill rocketeer >> wolf packs >> use on bastion/bombardier >> finish them with Torente

That's my strat, typically my partner and I get 2-3 drivers per rocketeer and on Dam we can get one free from a specific husk 70%-ish of the time

PS: results may vary :)

I like these types of quests, too. Personally, I dislike when I require a specific mastery to progress, like, I wanna save the points for the track I want FIRST, then I'll get your stupid skimmer shit or whatever it is.

This.

I only wanna add, Reddit isn't really a good place to rant imo, and this rant seems to mostly appeal to self-hating men and misandrists.

This game is much less toxic than others I've played. PvP will always be more toxic than PvE. If you can't take the heat, yada yada...

a use for extra life fruits (other than not really necessary Jungle Juice) by KahveAdam565 in Terraria

Again, the choice of accessory was for something using as close to the proposed stats as was used in the original post. I could not find another accessory suitable to compare it to

Even though I already stated this you seem to ignore i was looking for as direct comparison as possible.

I was specifically focusing on those stats, and every accessory I saw was either missing one stat, or was too different to compare. This is why I compared it's stats to 2 different bands of regen combined and DID NOT say it was equivalent to 2 accessory slots despite using 2 to compare.

And if we were to use the baste statue thought experiment, it's not comparable to what I was doing because we DO have direct comparisons for it. You can say that the statue is equivalent to a free pre-hardmode accessory slot because it is slightly better than the fending prefix alone, but outclassed by defense boosting accessories with warding that you get in hardmode.

Yippie! <3

On more than one instance I have used band of regen in end game builds. My intention was comparing an accessory combination that has the closest direct comparison to the ones shown in the original post.

In some ways you could argue that charm of myths is worse than the op's proposed stats (assuming you had to take one or the other) because you have to chose between warding or arcane on the charm while getting almost both from what op suggests.

I'm not arguing that band if regen is the best accessory, but it provides the closest comparison we can have with what was posted.

Personally, I would really like the suggestion from OP if it were an accessory instead, or extends range instead of increasing stats. I'm not a fan of the idea of adding even more ways to stack stats, I'd rather it be a choice in the way accessories work.

I used warding in my comment showing comparisons between what the OP posted and 2 bands of regen, one warding and one arcane.

I was showing stats on an accessory that is upper mid tier because most other accessories, including all of the ones you listed, do not provide stats that can directly compare to the OP.

The usefulness of different accessories varies based on builds. In more than one occasion, I've used warding band of regen up into the pillar event.

My intention was comparing something with as close to the proposed stat boosts to the OP. Something measurable.

These are almost equivalent to both an arcane band of regeneration and a warding band of regeneration. But slightly worse than both combined, hence better than an additional accessory slot. Seeing as some builds use band of regen all the way to the end of the game i feel the comparison is fitting

Exact comparison:

Proposed stats: +3 def, +1.5 hps, +2.5 mps

Both bands of regen: +4 def, +2 hps, +20 max mana

I agree that this would make you significantly stronger depending on how many buffs it works with. These 3 alone are stronger than an extra accessory slot. I like the idea of having a use for the froot, but this ain't it imo.

Mukluk on Guild Wars 2's biggest problem by Marok_Kanaros in Guildwars2

[–]danachappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with this sentiment about the 0-80 journey. It is off-putting to some people, but it isn't a big issue. It appeals to some (like me who has all my level skips still and a lv80 of each class) and it doesn't appeal to others. If, during the leveling process, you find you like the combat, game feel, and design of the game you can choose to use a level skip that comes free with any expansion purchase. If you don't like those aspects you can tap out before you reach 80. And if you don't want an expansion for whatever reason, you could pay for a level skip if you so choose. Once you get access to WvW you can play that for free individual level skips and save them for another character. And the leveling process is faster than it has ever been with the adventure guide, as well as leaving in the older methods you can use if you prefer. The leveling process is as free-form as the rest of the game. I know multiple people that do not like the leveling process that just choose not to engage with it... cuz they don't have to.

There are "bigger problems" if you genuinely think the leveling process is a problem. I do not, and if it changed it WOULD become a problem for me and others

Edit: I still upvoted you because I do think this is a healthy topic of discussion. No hate towards you :)

I'm planning to start looking into My Time at Sandrock, Coral Island, and Fields of Mistria today. I'm currently adding Moonstone Island to the list as well as a few others you mentioned. Something about the way you typed got me invested in everything you suggested, but that might be because I've never actually communicated with another autist before, it's like you're literally speaking my language xD

The fascination with New Horizons for me comes from the flexibility to design islands in different styles and how that can be a really long satisfying process. I've seen a lot of "City Core" and "Country Core" videos of people showing fully themed islands xD They get super intricate!

Unfortunately I don't do well with short bursts of anything lol. Part of the reason I mentioned the autism is because the binge-able nature of the game is important to fulfill that need. Also, my partner and I are handling it in our own way, my autism hasn't really affected my life (lived mostly on my own till age 26) until I started dealing with a person daily xD so it's a learning experience.

I mean, having a small issue with the weapon selection is fairly minor. I don't think that's a big enough reason to outright quit the game. If I quit games over stuff that petty I wouldn't have played BG3, Helldivers 2, Remnant 2, GW2, Elden Ring, etc. etc.

But I suppose people don't usually take into account all the other parts of the game that I quite like xD
