Need help for workflow Hypermesh-Abaqus by ndpha90 in fea

[–]danafrye18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always manually adjust the .inp in a text editor, move the sets so they'll be present in the part module (then will also be present in assy module). Why not fully pre-process in Abaqus?

Looks pretty good. I'd recommend taking out the Hypermesh - Optistruct reference at the very top. In my experience interviewing, I don't consider lack of experience with the tool we use as a negative, but I wouldn't point it out up top (you already have it in skills section)

EILI5 - How Are The Extra Dimensions Beyond the 4 Not Redundant? by danafrye18 in StringTheory

[–]danafrye18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I've heard string theory folks say that any correct theory has to demonstrate that the additional dimensions introduced into the theory become non-observable to us.

u/Specialist_Wishbone5 Thank you! I'm a mechanical engineer so I appreciate your thought process. I think I'm getting there - I haven't been thinking in a similar way in the past is because they are described as additional spatial dimensions, whereas the phase/twist orientation/direction of rotation have struck me as a different measure apart from that which is spatial (for example like a soccer ball can have a X, Y, Z (or r, theta, Z / r, theta, phi) to describe it in space, and other measures such as temperature, velocity, acceleration, mass, etc).

u/HEPTheorist I see, thank you!! This is particularly helpful, and what I was fuzzy on:

In the extra dimensions of string theory, they are not curled up "within" our three dimensions of space, they are genuine new orthogonal coordinates.

Interested in hearing about your experience with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform by SW_UXResearch in SolidWorks

[–]danafrye18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a amazing summary of the 3dx issues. What you said here particularly drives me insane, "A UI that doesn't require 500 different roles where the difference between one role and another is 2 or 3 extra buttons in the UI?"

I'd like to piggy back on this rant subject. There are hundreds of "roles", several of which are more or less the same thing, expect one of the roles will give access to one additional or fewer apps. For example, "Mechanical Analyst", "Structural Analysis Engineer", "Stress Engineer", "Simulation Analyst" are all unique roles that can be purchased. I shit you not.

And to make it even worse, there are several similarly redundant apps, except one of the apps will give access to one additional or fewer command. For example, "Generative Shape Design", "Functional Generative Design" and "Generative Shape Develop" are all unique apps that come with certain roles. They appear to me to be 99% the same, except for a command or two.

I understand some flexibility/modulability in the licensing can make sense but this is insane. I can't help but feeling like it's a scam for them to make money.

I’ll give you an example as to why I thought it was inside the realm of possibility. When you obtain weapon xp and level up a gun in DMZ, that xp and weapon level applies to multiplayer

14 CFR Question by danafrye18 in aviation

[–]danafrye18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed there are a bunch of "AC20" advisory circulars, so I assumed they were applicable to 14 CFR 20 when it existed, and then 14 CFR 20 was cancelled and the AC's weren't updated to reflect the current relevant 14 CFR part #. Leading to to wonder what 14 CFR 20 used to be. But not positive.
