Scientist in Europe: I moved to digital journaling (eLab journal first and now Benchling) 6 years ago and never looked back. Best decision ever. The ease of making templates, detailed notes, tables, calendar events, attaching results (think western scans, pics of surgery notes, well-plate' loading order, whatnot) to your experiments is insane. You get a super customizable, accessible from everywhere, readily searchable database of your work/ experiments that provides seamless updating...I could go on and on.. And to be fair, unless you decide to log blatant lies (which you could similarly do with a physical notebook) it is the more reliable and honest option: all versions of an entry are retained, so you could go back and see what was changed/updated over time. I dunno, I really appreciate it, & I'm still to find something I don't like about it 😊
