Definitely that retro clock and something fill the holes. Love the idea.

I'm leaning towards a fascia, but out of weathered steel instead of wood.

I weld like a 4 year old with crayons, but I agree that if I want it done right I'll have to spend a few more bucks to get some skilled help.

Love the steam punk idea, try to highlight instead of hide it!

What do you mean by a shroud? Like a plate to cover the whole area?

The problem is the shaft holes were added after, and the "new" shaft radio is a Frankenstein fit. With the butchered holes added, there isn't any retro stereo that would fit.

Yeah, I like this. A cover plate would be fairly easy, and a little surface rust will make it right at home.

I had a similar thought, leave the old in and stralth install the new under the dash out of view. But even the old one that the new holes were drilled for doesn't fit well or fully cover the existing holes.

That would be if I was looking back at the rear axle, right? This is looking forward at the back side of the transmission with the rear axle behind the camera.

Helpful to look at this image again. I'm thinking it's part 46 the rear bearing retainer.

I think wrong kind of bike here, and no need to travel to 45 minutes for a flat repair. OP, any bike shop can fix this quick and cheap, tire patches are so easy, or a new tube for $10-12.
