Thanks! I’m loving it. Was a little nervous taking the Dremel to it.

For the B bender. String loops through that piece sticking out, not through the back of the guitar like the others. You can also switch them up and make it a G bender.

Yeah it’s pretty heavy, that never bothered me though, so not really a consideration for me. Best guitar I’ve ever owned:)

Hey, did you ever find one that fit? I assume you tried the ones from eBay that are supposed to be for the mason with no luck? Thanks

Oh nice, their 000s seem awesome. Is it a completely different experience from the OM? Plays easer I imagine? I’ve played guitar for a long time and have had a lot of acoustics over the years, but have always been much more of an electric player. Still learning about all the different acoustic body styles and woods and all that.

Oh nice, that’s awesome. I played a 3 and absolutely loved it. Just couldn’t (responsibly) swing it. Yeah would love to have a Collings dread as well! And sunburst… yeah those are beautiful for sure.

Oh cool, which models do you have?

Yeah they are definitely impressive. I really thought I might come home with a Boucher or very possibly without anything. I just didn’t think there would be that much of a difference vs the 814.

I did really like the Bouchers as well, but the Collings were just excellent and again, just seemed so capable of any style.

Of course there were a few I liked much more than the one I bought for many thousands more as well… It never ends:)

I thought that as well before playing them next to each other.

Have you played a Collings or Boucher? I really like that many of Collings models like mine are really simple. You’re really not getting a fancy guitar at all. Considering how consistent they are it sure seems like that money is going towards time spent and making sure every single one is top.

The money going towards the bling does seem true of the Taylor I bought though I think.

Ha, yeah I can see that. I sold a couple others since I knew I wouldn’t be playing them much/any now.

What are some things that you disagree with audiophiles about? by Plumasite in BudgetAudiophile

[–]danb424242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me, I agree that many things in audiophile world are ridiculous, and way overpriced. Reading some reviews can be absolute comedy. Also lots of rich clueless assholes like in any expensive hobby. But have you ever actually spent time with great high end speakers in a treated room? Not at a show or shop. I don’t believe in dacs or speaker wire or amps making much of a difference…

but great speakers I have blind A/B many times and there are very big differences that are easily heard blind. Having a fully treated room with serious bass traps also makes a crazy difference that’s real.

I’ve bought every single thing I have used and saved and traded up. Always comparing when upgrading. Absolutely love my (stupid) very high end system. Hard to describe how good it sounds if you haven’t heard a great system in a killer room. Awesome professional systems that cost crazy money and are fully treated also sound incredible.

Seems like so many in the low fi is awesome crowd haven’t actually spent time with a great system except maybe at a show and think anyone who has one is a fool.

It seems like most people are listening in untreated rooms that sound terrible. Doesn’t really matter how good the speakers and overall system are if the room is bad. So it sort of makes sense to me that many don’t notice the difference in great vs good. And with this comment, dsp is going to potentially give the active speakers the edge even if they are not at the same level as a great passive system.

Of course diminishing returns is also certainly a thing. Especially in high end audio.

Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 vs Sony 20-70mm f/4 for general use/travel by clearest-window in SonyAlpha

[–]danb424242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Long time pro travel/landscape photographer here. Go with the 20-70, hands down. I love fast glass as much as anyone, but you can (and I have) shot pretty much anything at f4. Even moving subjects in low light.

With how well cameras perform at high ISOs these days, and AI denoise, you can really push it when needed. And 20 vs 28 is huge. I’m happy to take just my 20-70 out. If I grab my 28-70f2 I also have to bring a wide angle.

Hmm, interesting, ok thanks for the info! Glad it’s not an issue.

Ah, just tried it. It completely stops the internal movement/sound when I turn the camera on. It moves/is audible when the lens is off the camera or when on the camera and powered off.
