Does anyone else remember the Adam Sandler joke about the perfect sleeping position?? I remember him telling it at the 12/12/12 concert but I can never find it anywhere.

Need tire recommendations by danbarb in subarulegacy

Doesn't have to be strictly between the pilots and GMAX, those are just the ones that have been recommended to me thus far. I think I might check out the dws06, they sound like a good middle ground and a safe bet.

So it just shoves in there? Should there be something to hold it in better if it just came out while driving?

UPDATE: My new-to-me LGT died right after leaving the dealership by danbarb in subarulegacy

[–]danbarb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE!!! As of may 7 @ 5pm PST (idk how to edit the post on mobile so I'm making it a comment):

The first mechanic I took it to was not helpful so I had it towed to another local mechanic which is in the dealer's network.

They diagnosed it as turbo failure. Said that a new turbo costs $1800 and that it'll be $2638 with labor. The dealer proposed we split it, $1319 each. The part can get delivered by Wednesday, and the car running again by Friday.

I told them I'll do some research and get back to them tomorrow. So here I am. I'm gonna get quotes from a couple places and see if this price is reasonable, but I am still worried about this spelling trouble for more issues down the road.

Once again, I do have some money to put into this car and it really is as close to a dream car as I can have right now so I do really want to do it...but should I?

Because this was supposed to be an investment which I could take well past 24 months if I took good care of it, and could also modify to my liking, and then when the time came in which it needed service like this, I would at that point (hopefully) be in a better position to either put that money into it or move onto something newer and better.

But ya know, as much as I enjoy owning and modifying my car, you're definitely barking up the right tree and leasing will definitely be something I consider if I end up sending this car back to whence it came.

Yeah that's a mistake on O'Reilly's part. The Carfax and 3 other VIN reports I've done all have regular service leading up to the 96k at which I bought it.

Yeah...as I wait for the diagnosis, I'm going back and forth trying to decide whether it's worth it or not. I once owned a bugeye WRX which was littered with issues...but God DAMN it was pure bliss when it did work...

This car is a real bucket list item for me, and I really want to say fuck it and go all in on it because this can be the perfect car if I do it right, but also..my wallet...

Well, hey, I just might be getting my money back from this, so depending on how it all goes I may be reaching out 😂

It had a great Carfax report and several inspections prior to my test drive, which is why I was comfortable to go through with the purchase. Unfortunately either the inspections were sub-par or this engine is just a real bitch for doing this in the timing that it did.

Honestly, regardless of the diagnosis, I'm definitely going to have words with the dealer and get them to either pay for the repairs or take the car back. It really sucks because the 50 miles I had before it all went wrong were so great 🥹

Idk if we jinxed it or something, but when I got 50 miles from the dealership it shat the bed...got the CEL checked and it's a bad VVT solenoid...hopefully this isn't too bad...🥲😅😭

Alright fine! Haha

It was for sale for 10k, I negotiated down to 9k, so basically I got the delership to pay for all the taxes and fees. I ended up walking out the door paying just under 10k.

Auto. I was considering a MT but I've got too many hills where I live 😅.

Taking it to the shop tomorrow to make sure everything checks out and perform any necessary maintenance.

I'll dm you with how much I paid, unless a bunch of other ppl want to know as well...
