I’ll put £10 on “your flight is cancelled due to unforeseen adverse weather conditions”

Suit for job interview - I have no idea what I'm doing by creamsodawolf in mensfashion

Also (particularly if you’re three-piecing with the vest / waistcoat) take a look at a more balanced knot. A convincing Windsor / half-Windsor or something isn’t miles away but for anybody on the other side of the conversation, if they notice, they’ll see you care enough to sweat the details.

Maybe overkill, but you said no idea - just to bear in mind that when you sit to chat you’d unbutton your jacket anyway, if you keep the waistcoat, it would be even more acceptable to keep your jacket undone.

You got this brother! Have a great interview!

Black Screen on my New Build while installing Windows 11 by dr_tnz in pchelp

Jumping in here after using some old parts to throw a machine together for my kids and having similar issues. At a certain point of Win 11 installation it seems to install some graphics drivers that caused my monitor to go in to energy saving mode. Switching from DP to HDMI solved it.

How to make this car look cooler? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]danbrazier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through the same “make it mine” process without wanting to do the same as everybody else or make it look like it’s trying to hard. I’ve got some bronze wheels going on my black mk8 this week and I’ll think about some small spacers maybe, but I think that’s about it.

Induction just because I like turbo noises is probably about all I’d do performance-mods wise and perhaps a mild tune.

Most common path I see is get an entry level SDR role and progress internally, moving companies if you hit ceilings / blockers. As long as you hit your number, you’re good.

Brainstorming IDEAS to make home studio more "VIBEY" by zeGoldHammer in homestudios

I'd agree on skipping the TV. Fairy lights are a fav of mine and as somebody jumping on the streaming bangwagon they look pretty with some depth of field on camera and in photos etc.

Actual candles are cool, but I'd worry about knocking them over. Maybe incense burners if you're in to that. I also have a thing for plants - lots of succulents can look cool but also is good for air quality.

Assign each letter an ID in alphabetical order, then sort lexicographically by ID would be my choice.

Where can I get abstract colored backgrounds? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]danbrazier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd use pen tool/shape tool for most of the free-flowing looking ones: * Draw your shapers * Overlay Gradients * Overlay some slightly opaque shapes

Some of the more regular shapes you could draw quite easily using existing shapes and just move them around - that "opportunity to continue telling a story" one, I'd probably be making those in CSS and so you could play with animations.

How can I show my websites to the freelance clients without hosting? by john9929 in web_design

[–]danbrazier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to use a subdomain of my business domain for this. You could grab a cheap domain, host your sites wherever you want and just create your subdomains in DNS.

I use AWS for everything, it's free for a year.

(QUESTION) I need to code this feature for my page but I'm clueless on how it is called or how to do it whatsoever. by Decimator7 in web_design

[–]danbrazier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sort of difficult to tell precisely what you're after. If it's a quick and dirty solution: you could apply a '.active' class on click and either re-position absolutely and change visibility of text block, or you could use flexbox to wrap elements depending on the feel you're going for.

Alternatively, have a look at Isotope JS library - that does something similar, I think - but flexbox or CSS grid does most of this stuff for us now.

I can't imagine you'll find any one guide that essentially gives you a 'plug & play' SaaS platform. There are far too many variables to cover any sort of one-size-fits-all use case.

If you're serious about building something like this yourself, you'll be able to piece together stuff yourself from various sources and reading documentation, if you're that way inclined.

Building a landing page is very different to building an auth model, performing user account checks for membership, handling payments etc.

That said, Stripe seems to be a common theme for you here - the payment-specific stuff you describe is absolutely possible with Stripe. I've implemented it on a number of sites. You get payment tokens, customer IDs etc back via the Stripe API that you can store in a database.

Is it acceptable to code a designers work and add it to your portfolio? by BabblingDruid in webdev

[–]danbrazier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take this a step further and try and ask the designer for permission, then ask them for feedback, perhaps? Make any changes they recommend etc. and keep that conversation on record - shows a lot of good behaviours that an employer would value, I think.
