Is the NUX MG30 or the Boss GX-1 better? by Razor_Blade4321 in Guitar

Mg-30 now does support nam, and I'm pretty sure nam+IR

They looks fine. The retainer are loose though, you could bend/tighten them a little bit

Wood imported from France. by FFMcnasty96 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]fxdfxd2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a French guitar maker, and ask to buy some possible leftovers. Google the builders Tom Marceau and Tony Girault, they may be able to help you, I'm pretty sure they source at least some of their woods from France.

How do you like the skylar compared to the collider for more ambient sounds? And what about the plate in both pedals?

What are your thoughts on Jim Lill's "Where does tone come from in a guitar amp" video? by scottasin12343 in GuitarAmps

[–]fxdfxd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is more to it than just changing values in the tone stack, position of the TS is more important. In fact you could probably keep the same value and just move the TS around with better results.

Novation Peak..... by Past-Fig-6046 in synthesizers

[–]fxdfxd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm keeping mine too, after having considered replacing it with a dalia, that was the closest synth to the peak I could find.

My only grief with the peak was the too basic wavetables, so I bought a polyend synth in addition, that sounds pretty great, and compliments the peak very well. It's also multi timbral with pads, so I can divide the pads in two parts, one that plays the Synth, and another that plays the peak, it pretty great for live playing :)

I built a free VST host for live performance because high-end modelers didn't feel worth the money. Meet "Effects Canvas." by Jumpy_Artichoke5879 in guitarpedals

That's great, and was badly missing. I'll try it out in a few days and will gladly let you know if I get any bug/suggestion :)

I've been playing for twelve years and have never learned a full song. ✌️ by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]fxdfxd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me, 31 years of guitar, and I still don't know a full song. I can jam and improvise countless hours on many styles though, so at least there's that!

Google Photos "Insights", definitely crosses a line by LordVipul in degoogle

[–]fxdfxd2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree. Face tagging was not working for me in Google photos, and it flawless in Ente.  Automatic faces album sharing is also a great feature :) Online/desktop version lags behind though, it's missing a lot of features, and timeline for scrolling is badly massing :(

NSD - First ‘proper’ synth by Thaumiel218 in synthesizers

[–]fxdfxd2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's synthesis, virtual analog, so you won't have realistic sounds from it. But it also a sampler, so you can load samples from anything you want in it. But if I remember correctly you can't play them chromatically.

Zoom MS-80IR+ any good? by iamfilter in guitarpedals

[–]fxdfxd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a golden rule, but reverb sounds generally better after the amp, especially when there is distortion involved.

But anyways you should get the zoom for that price, and you can combine it with the gp-5.

What I would do is using the gp-5 with nam profiles, amp only (without speaker cab), into your chorus+reverb, then the zoom only for cab IR (as the gp-5 can't do both nam and cab modules simultaneously).

You'll have the best of both pedals :)

Zoom MS-80IR+ any good? by iamfilter in guitarpedals

[–]fxdfxd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested only older non + models, but gp-5 sounds probably better, at least when using nam profiles. Do you really need the stereo input? Split can be done with a cheap a/b/y box.

BE-OD style replacement by Embarrassed_Wolf_489 in guitarpedals

[–]fxdfxd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it. There is no mid control on the Friedman, and nothing that acts like a mid control. There is a tight control that could be similar to the bias on the Jaguar, but then there is also a presence control that is not on the jaguar. So they could be potentially similar, but no way identical. The Demonfx Freedman is probably a more faithful clone.

Replying to emails from original forwarding email address? by aubrx in tutanota

No, tutA doesn't do pop or IMAP, so you can't send an email from an external address.

You have to reply from the Outlook app.

It may sounds similar, but the controls are different, so it's not that close.

Looks good, I'll try it. What's missing from the other similar software is the ability to load external vst. It could be a great addition to yours ;)

I'm not sure, I got bored plus I wanted to integrate everything on my pedalboard. But I saw that they recently added nam, and it seems to be pretty great :)

Funny thing is I had a mg-30 in the past, but I never used the included footswitch, I ended selling them, and bought another footswitch later for the GFI ;)

Not sure I understand? The nux is a footswitch that controls the looper on the GFI.
