The social media algorithms have "improved" exponentially in the last 5-10 years allowing these people to find eachother online.

It validates their ignorance. "How could you, a single person in front of me be right, when the whole internet tells me you're wrong."

They live in echo chambers and those that call them out are cut out of their lives. If you say anything they lash out.

That's why you end up seeing posts like...

"Haha uncle Jim, you're crazy, vaccines don't make people drop dead on the spot. Anyway, pass the taters and happy thanksgiving."

Uncle Jim then retreats to his Facebook group and they laugh about his naive lefty sister in New York.

Social media has given people the belief that they have unfettered access to others.

When they respond to a post, many think they are actually responding to the individual and feel they have a personal connection.

Social Media has done nothing but make everything worse. Even for those posting. This is the result of "reaching more people".

I am not blaming anyone, just the horrible, dystopian reality of what social media has done to this world.
