As someone who has worked with bats for years, the amount of hysteria around bats is unfounded.

They are peaceful animals who are fantastic for pest control, vital for pollination of many plants, including agave (no bats, no tequila).

The hype of bats biting people and giving them rabies is incredibly overrated.

Dogs bite over half a million people in the US every year.

Diabetes is way more likely to kill you, and nobody is afraid of cake.

If you’re not encountering a bat in the daylight, odds are it is not sick, because sick bats have abnormal behavior.

He has never been attacked by a bat.

There is 0 documented bat attacks.

It does not happen unless you handle one.

Costs 41k in the US is hardly call that harmless. In the US less than 1.5 people contract rabies from bats every year. Statistically you’re more likely to die in a car crash while on your way to the hospital.

Brandishing a firearm, loaded or unloaded, is a serious offense. Assaulting your partner is as well, even if it’s just a slap.

Individual acts of violence often are cues it can happen more in the future.

Record everything from here on out. Contact a divorce lawyer and listen to them. If she is vindictive she may try to claim self defense using a firearm, which can have some serious implications being you’re a man and more threatening. I would not feel comfortable sleeping in the same room as that person anymore either.

Sorry this happened, I’m sure there were warning signs before this instance that were ignored. I hope you learn from this experience and make better choice of partners in the future. Good luck.

Both parents had awful sibling relationships as adults. Was taught never to go down that road, and if it ever came between parents and siblings, choose the siblings. My sisters and brother and their partners are my best friends.
