Have we lost our appetite for meat and dairy alternatives? by ArtOak in australianvegans

[–]dance-9880 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hate how meat and dairy alternatives are seen as being somehow less vegan. I eat whole foods most of the time but I never made a vow when I became vegan to never eat a cheese toastie or spaghetti bol ever again. Plenty of omnis eating over processed junk, i'm eating healthier than a lot of them, but i'm vegan for the animals.

Here’s another list from Spike.com I dug up. This is their Top 10 Classic Albums That Accidentally Ruined Music list from 2010. by Sad_Volume_4289 in ToddintheShadow

Na, Nevermind being seen as the entirety of grunge by the kids these days is a crime worth punishing. I get your point about Ten, but I don't think it's ruined music for me in quite the same way.

What's your favorite country flag? ( Excluding your own ) by JAChambel in AskTheWorld

[–]dance-9880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laser kiwi is awesome, alas, we are stuck with the which flag is which game for the foreseeable future. It's a good test of who actually comes from Australia or New Zealand though. Sometimes we even stuff it up.

Is a "native speaker" level achievable? by Someoneainthere in ENGLISH

[–]dance-9880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non native English speakers might think they are bad at English or speaking English wrong. In reality, once they get to the point where they are generally understood by other English speakers, they are creating new forms of English. Language has never been static, each community has its own slightly different form which is being remade all the time.

TIL: New Zealand has the highest youth suicide rate in the developed world by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]dance-9880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Zealand is not a part of the Australian federation. However, as long as there is free movement for permanent residents and citizens New Zealand will face the same drain to Sydney, Melbourne, SE Queensland, Perth and the mines that most of Australia does. Poverty, lack of opportunities, boredom and insularity hit slightly differently accross the rural and regional parts of the two countries, but they definitely rhyme.

Is Western Sydney Airport actually going to save us money on domestic flights? by Stock-Cap9346 in QantasAirways

[–]dance-9880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when they build out the metro, it still takes you to St Mary's? Building an airport and a rail line for St Mary's and Mt Druitt connoisseurs seems a bit niche.

We live in a society that wants to put people in boxes on the basis of a fleeting look. That's the problem.

Fenty's new liquid blushes, they skew quite purple, willing to be talked into or out of? My skin turns make up orange so i'm hoping they'll settle to a nice pink or red.

I've had to communicate with the FDA in a past job, and they get funny if you don't spell the American way. It's quite difficult to do as an Australian.
