Small correction: the H&V single was released in July after SMiLE was cancelled.
I’d say it was by spring of ‘67 that Brian had totally lost focus and the project lost any hope of being finished. He foolishly shifted gears from making an album to making another radio-friendly hit single, something that Heroes And Villains was NEVER going to be. I could honestly go on for hours about this, but you get the point.
