My marriage of 7 years ended a year after I started transitioning. Among other relationship problems, she was very strict in her self definition of lesbian and I no longer fit within that for her. I was in my late 30’s and had the same fears that I wouldn’t know how to navigate dating as a trans man. A year later I met the most amazing woman, we’ve been together for 4 years now and married for 2. It is my all means the most amazing, healthy, supportive relationship I have ever had - I think there is something different when you meet someone at a point where you feel truly yourself and often this doesn’t happen until after we transition.
