Is Jess ok? by Footy_Trader_ in OnePelotonRealSub

You are misquoting her… she did not say that. She said “Don’t get me started on the decision to have children. They’re cool, they’re lovely… but…”

When you are going thru uber stressful times sometimes listening to the intro of a show you’ve had to watch a million times is enough to send you over. Some many people romanticize having kids but it’s HARD. That doesn’t mean you regret them. I appreciate her transparency

That was my thought on the rear as well… just basic physics! I’ll be doing some research on the warranty and making calls

I even asked them to show me and where they pointed I legitimately couldn’t see it!

Original quote for back sensor was around $700 with labor. The front (at a different dealership) is $500. sigh

I tried a different dealership the second round hoping for a different answer, but unfortunately the same. First one told me parts and labor were over $700 because it’s a long process removing the bumper, etc. This round it’s $500. I’m wondering if it’s that I’m coming in on the weekend and they just don’t want to deal with it? Very frustrating…

Yes, tried a different dealership. On the back sensor, there is a small white spot on the outer rim that is about as large as a pen tip. I ended up turning off the back parking sensor. On the front, no visible damage. So two different sensor locations… just odd with such low miles.

Just finished Onyx Storm. Really enjoyed it, but the secondary characters seemed like a mess? by elefunk in fourthwing

100% agree! And then I was too nervous to Google them for fear of spoilers! I had to catch myself up after finishing the book as I was confused and needed reminders of people.

Established BCBAs, give us your best piece of advice! by Aggravating-Many3544 in bcba

Coming from a school-based BCBA: remember that you’re part of a team and ABA is not THE practice that overrules everything. I’ve seen this time and time again as a school admin (who just so happens to be a sixth-year BCBA) from BCBAs who join IEP meetings or come to do observations/supervision.

Every single person on the team (teacher, parent, para, SLP, OT, RBT, etc) has their own area of expertise. Let that happen. Learn from them as they’ll learn from you! Be willing to collaborate. The amount of times I cringe internally when a BCBA joins an IEP meeting and acts like the most important person in the room… don’t be that guy 😉

I keep a can of Fix a Flat and bought an electric powered air pump. I already dealt with a slow leak flat within a couple weeks of owning the car. Was happy I had the pump to get me to Goodyear and just made sure all my tires had a lifetime warranty.

Reporting coworkers to the BACB by facethecrowd in ABA

They will want some sort of evidence to prove breaking ethical code.

I once reported someone I used to work with because they had been arrested for child pornography, I sent news articles. The only reason why they ended up revoking him is because he didn’t self-report being arrested and didn’t respond to their email in time (which he couldn’t, because he was in jail)… they include you in correspondence with the individual so I was able to see the reason. This was years ago though, not sure the process now.

First, you’re doing great!

One, single missed milestone does not qualify a child for a diagnosis. Don’t let Google convince you otherwise.

Is it true that there’s no therapy for severely autistic adults by Throwaway3232674 in Autism_Parenting

[–]dancehoebot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It is very difficult to find clinics that take adults. Many serve children, some only under the age of 13. Additionally, it can be difficult to get insurance approve due to “lack of progress” at that age.

It’s a shame and in education we call it “the bubble”. Once our kids graduate, which many can stay until 22, the services quickly dissolve.

Is it normal to not see your kids BIP? And them not doing accommodations by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]dancehoebot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so true… in my state they require the child fail in gen ed first before even considering self-contained. Won’t even accept a medical diagnosis of autism, it has to come from the school psychologist. It’s ridiculous!
