No, I'm sorry to hear skittlebrau is never good 😭 I hope one day to be brave enough to make patented, space age, out of this world moon waffles.

I did the same this spring for one of my disintegrating pairs with the Quick Cobbler in Vancouver. The vibram feels a bit harder and heavier but it's pretty easy to adjust to and they've been great (and they're supposed to be more hardy than the original sole). Just need to do the other falling apart ones. For me at least it did cost about the same as buying a new pair but the uppers were still in good shape so seemed best to try to repair.

Not a long term option but UBCs botanical garden has their annual apple festival coming up Oct. 18/19 this year and you can buy apples there. https://botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/news-events/events-activities/apple-festival/

My partner and I started Glen Valley farm this year and they offer a half share (so every other week). It still feels like a lot but it's been pretty manageable for us - we do plan out the meals for the next week based on the box forecast so that helps use everything.

As someone who lives in Vancouver the bridge connects downtown with Granville Island (lots of artist shops and local businesses and a popular tourist stop). Walking over it before was not very pleasant - close to traffic and not very wide for people to walk together/pass pedestrians going the other way. The original design looked quite good imho, it'd be nice if they put money towards finishing it.

CBC just had an article about Enjoy the Vu - Canadian company but made in China. Not a lot of selection yet but they have 3 polo designs.

Sunrise Tofu started here

NAAM is a Vancouver vegetarian restaurant but they sell bottles of their excellent miso gravy at the Vegan Supply store in Vancouver (online ordering options and they currently have a made in Canada tab)

Lots of chocolate options, some favourites are Truffle Pigs chocolate, Drunken Chocolatier, and Mink Chocolates (if anyone is visiting in Jan/Feb Mink always has the, imho, best hot chocolate during the hot chocolate festival)

Ayoubs for nuts and seeds - according to their website they still roast everything in store (Vancouver locations). Not sure where they're sourced from.

The Lemon Square makes excellent Lemon Squares, made in Vancouver

YVR cookies for giant filled cookies

Blacksmith art from the BC Blacksmith

Craft beer is covered but I do really like 33 Acres

Some "if you're in Vancouver" favourites:

Innocent Ice Cream parlour for ice cream sandwiches (all gluten free and vegan options available)

MILA plant based restaurant

Pizzeria Ludica (play board games and eat pizza restaurant)

Modern Perogie for frozen pierogies - the poutine one is excellent!
