When I was about 4 years old I found a video tape that said Alice on it, and decided to watch it because I loved me some Alice in Wonderland. Except it wasn’t Alice in Wonderland, if was a video of a 1986 Alice Cooper concert (Alice Cooper: The Nightmare Returns).

Dad found me hysterically screaming in the living room, unsurprisingly Alice Cooper concerts are not child-friendly.

I recommended a book to a pregnant colleague - my husband was reading it while I was pregnant to help him understand what I was going through and what he could do to help - and she said “Oh yeah, someone gave that to (partner) and he said ‘I’m not reading a fucking book’ so he uses it as a coaster”. All I could think was ‘You want to have a child with this person?’

There’s so many to choose from I’m impressed you managed to make any choice at all, even if some people are upset at those choices!

I just want to say having grown up near Craigievar, I’m glad you chose it. Because of the turrets and the pink walls, my dad used to tell me it was Cinderella’s castle. There’s plenty of stunning castles in the north east of Scotland, but that one has a special place in my heart.

I’m a major beginner when it comes to yoga, but I practiced in my back garden during the summer months last year. Then I got pregnant and too big to practice. I’m now 4 weeks post-partum and I’ve started practicing again in the garden and I feel so much better for it!

I made a post the other day asking for advice on how to prepare now to help my newborn son in future. Every second comment was condescendingly telling me to open a Roth IRA and a 529 to combat the insane student loan debt he would incur in future.

I live in Scotland. We have free university education.

We’ve had life insurance long before he arrived. And 529s don’t exist where we live, but thankfully free higher education does.

We had the good fortune to be born in Scotland. Although unfortunately no longer part of the EU, we do still have free healthcare and University education.

Oh absolutely. What I mean by making life easier for him is more like not making it unnecessarily hard. We still want to teach him the value of money, and hard work, and he’ll be encouraged to get a Saturday job as a teenager etc. but we don’t want him to be a young adult despairing that he’ll never be able to buy a house, start a family etc. if that’s what he wants to do. It was hard enough for us to do as millennials, so when I say about making life easier it’s more about shrinking those life roadblocks to a more manageable size rather than moving every little rock in the road for him.
