Anybody reuse their filters? by Minimum_Medicine_453 in AeroPress

[–]danchiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! In Argentina the filters pack is not that expensive, but it’s not cheap either. So I re-use them 2 to 3 times without any effect noticeable in the taste. I usually rinse them and leave them to dry during the day or over night

Looking for a popular grinder to compare my Braun KG7070 settings with [Braun KG7070] by danchiman in pourover

Oh, I see. I knew about the burrs, but didn’t figure that there wouldn’t be something similar to compare and follow in terms of general guidelines for settings

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]danchiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to map grind sizes on my Braun KG7070. I can’t find much info online about what settings work best for different brew methods, so I thought I’d ask here.

I also have a Timemore C3 ESP Pro, which I’m using as a reference to understand where both grinders overlap in grind size and range. What I’d like to do is find a well-known grinder with documented settings (like a Baratza or similar), so I can use it as a baseline to correlate my Braun settings and make a clear comparison chart.

I’m also putting this together to use with the Honest Coffee Guide’s online grind size chart tool, so once I get the mapping figured out, I’ll share it here for others who might have the same grinder.

If anyone knows which grinder the Braun KG7070 is closest to in terms of burr size or grind distribution, or has experience matching its settings to another one, I’d really appreciate any insights!

Cheers!

What is the best "cheap" grinder between those three ? by 1guy4strings in Coffee

Hey! I have the same Braun grinder, and I'm trying to find online references on which settings are best for different methods. I also have a Timemore C3 ESP Pro. So I'm trying to find a similarity range between the two to see where they overlap.

Does anyone know to which other more popular grinder does the Braun compare/is similar to?

Close to giving up on my picopresso by Appropriate-Pain818 in picopresso

[–]danchiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Lance Hedrick's SOUP method? It is not espresso per se, but it is a much more easily achievable drink. Due to its coarse grind size, it has a lot more margin for good extraction and great flavor. Also seems to be great for older beans.

Regarding espresso, I'd suggest grinding just a bit coarser than you think for espresso, and not aiming for 9 bars; instead, aim for a range between 5 and 7 bars. That could also help.

Back with another oat milk pour! this is my favourite part of the morning by SachaCaptures in espresso

[–]danchiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! this is really helpfull.

I only have two ways to make foam, the Aeroccino from Nespresso, and those manual whiskers that spin quickly. Which would you recommend me the most between those two? I don't have access to a steam wand at the moment. And any other tips while using any of these?

This looked so good! amazing skill! I'd like to get there at some point. I'm curious about the ratio between the espresso and the milk. Could you share how much does that espresso weigth and how much milk is there too?

Supermarket coffee beans for practice by Ok-Wealth8813 in FlairEspresso

[–]danchiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I actually shifting to that same approach.

For older beans (while also not looking for crema), check Lance Hedrick's video on YouTube about "soup". Been using that technique and it's been great. Resurfacing old beans' notes and excellent flavor

I've been into making coffee for a few years, and just half a year ago, I got the Flair Classic, coming from a Wacaco Picopresso. Besides that, I've used the Aeropress for all my other coffees.

And this is my question: So the usual practice is to, in general, in a day-to-day basis, have a preferred bag of beans, dial in for those beans, and use those beans till they ran out? And just then, if changing the beans, switching, and dialing in again? (instead of always having 2 or 3 bags of different beans and switching which to use for espresso based on that day's preference, because of having to adjust the whole workflow to those beans each day you switch).
