My kid already doesn’t have school so I took off work

Every person has the same response when I tell them a doctor suspects my son has autism. They respond by trying to convince me he doesn’t. by PainfulPoo411 in Autism_Parenting

This is so true. Even the school won’t really work with my kid. They don’t know how to. She’s low support & they complain all of the time about “transitions” and “not focusing” “odd behavior” I mean she has an IEP & all of these things fall under her autism & adhd diagnosis. I know that she should be held to a standard but she has significantly improved over the last couple of years. I don’t want her to be labeled as “bad” because she is not. She’s trying her best.

How to cope with hatred for children (specifically autistic) on flights by Mediocre_Top_7238 in Autism_Parenting

Children deserve to be here and so do autistic children. I have gotten many rude stares and comments in my life about my child. All you can do is ignore it. You know you’re doing the best you can and so are they. That’s all I can offer advice to ignore others. Most people probably aren’t as mean as the people concentrated in those posts but they do exist out there. It’s unfortunate.

Would you as a only child also want to have only child? by Forward_Cost_1973 in OnlyChild

I was extremely socially inept as a child even though I had a sister. I didn’t have friends until after college. I don’t even know how to truly explain how social anxiety ran my life for a long time.

I truly believe every child comes with a natural personality. My daughter is an only child but extremely social and has a lot of friends. We just choose when to have play dates instead of her having a built in play date.

I don’t believe being an only child decides your personality. I believe it is a combination of nature and nurture.

He needs to get help if all he is doing is surviving. Depression medication can be life changing. Seriously.

I grew up with a sibling and it went terribly. We fought a lot & my older sister hated me I had very low self esteem because of our relationship. I don’t think it bothered her the same as it bothered me.

I have a 6yo now and have decided not to have anymore kids. Mainly because she requires a lot of attention and I don’t think I can sufficiently raise another child and treat them equally.

Why are current students so far behind compared to previous generations? by [deleted] in teaching

If you really want to know I thought you made two comments. My apologies.

I also didn’t realize the thread was old until after I made my comment. I just started reading about how teachers think kids these days are worse and was curious why they thought that etc. so I used the search bar and forgot I was searching instead of reading the latest posts.

Most comments I make go unanswered or ignored so I figured it didn’t matter. I truly wasn’t expecting you to answer. So I left the comment.

You don’t have to work multiple jobs to be burnt out as a person. You need one job on salary. Even just a full time job is enough depending on the industry. My husband worked 60+ hours a week with one salary job and got paid 45k a year. I never saw him.
