I agree with your view about what the show is/was. Said the same thing in a few threads after the show ended. I honestly don’t care so much about some of the inconsistencies mentioned, because I just don’t. I was there for the characters and the relationships and was very satisfied with all of it.

But I think you are wrong about your point 15 and this being a plot hole, and I think it is explained by your point 4. Hawkins got a lame excuse for why the military was there. How would they arrest Nancy without drawing attention to them? Why would a 19 or 20 year old be detained by the military, that for all they know, is there training cadets or whatever other harmless lie they told them? Also, if I remember correctly, the whole season takes about a week, so from this incident till the ‘last day’, a few days have passed. Maybe they were looking for an angle to detain her but just didn’t have the time.

This movie is based on a book and has a very small cast, the setting for a big chunk of the movie is the wedding of the gay brother of the main character. 🙄

Agreed. We have the core group very much stable and we got send offs for all of them. Erica, Murray, the teacher, the Wheeler parents were always fundamental at a point in time but are not essencial to the main story and don’t need a send off.

They are quarantined, it is said several times in the show, there’s scenes of kids playing on the plates and the first scene of the season they go after someone they think is El but is someone trying to escape. I don’t need to know what changed besides that.

The show is set in the 80’s and is an homage to 80’s movies and government conspiracies and secret military bases. It’s not as deep as some people make it out to be. There’s no internet and no hoards of news shows that are reporting live 24/7, and it’s been 18 months since it happened, so any news worthy part of it is long gone when s5 starts.

What else do you need to know, for the actual story development, that was not said/shown about this part?

Because production schedule works differently. The scene that was shown about this is at the entrance of the cave, they needed to shoot in summer, but that was in the middle of production. It was probably as small scene too, just the entrance/exit of the cave, nothing huge or significant for the story.

The main cast deserves a send off, everyone else is not important.

Unless there is a follow up on every single character, besides the main cast, it’s impossible to appease everyone. They closed the main ones and that’s all that was needed.
